Trail running to this spot in the dark probably wasn’t our best idea…but WOW WHAT A VIEW 🥹😍!!!!
This is Cadini di Misurina — one of the most iconic viewpoints in the Dolomites 🇮🇹. And yes, it is absolutely worth it.
A lot of our time in the Dolomites was spontaneously planned, so we didn’t realize that you needed to pay for a reservation to access this hike. 🙃 Yes, you can make a long day hike out of it and hike-in for free, but we didn’t have the time…
We kept checking the reservations and a spot opened up right before sunset at 9pm on our last day in the Dolos, so we decided to send it 😅. Our plan was to drive up immediately at reservation, jump out of the car, and trail run to the viewpoint to try and catch it right after sunset — before it got too dark.
We took off running alongside the narrow trail…everyone heading back and looking at us like we were crazy 😆
We were GASSED when we hit the viewpoint, but WOW. One of the best views we have ever seen in the mountains. And we were the ONLY ONES. We took it in quickly and headed back as it was getting eerily dark.
We continued to run back as it got darker and darker, as we noticed the clouds starting to roll in (spooky!!!). The mountains don’t mess around and we know this…so we picked up the pace and truly JUST made it off the trail when we got engulfed in clouds (we weren’t able to see a thing). Not our best idea, but what a moment we will remember forever.
Definitely add this spot to your Dolomites itinerary, just make sure you reserve a spot in advance!!
