🚘🇵🇭 Got time to chikka 😊
Sharing my experience for those who are planning to get their driver’s license in the Philippines
YES, you can pass the LTO exams — without a fixer.
I arrived in Davao from Lyon, France last July 29. My Philippine driver’s license had expired back in 2018, so I needed to retake the 2 theory and 1actual driving exams.
My sister asked someone to help us inquire about the process. That person turned out to be a fixer. He offered to get me a license in just 6 hours for ₱6,500.
I said NO.
I wanted to do it the right way — by myself.
He said, “No one passes the exam, not even teachers and other professionals.”
I thought, “Is it really that hard?”
He answered, “Yes, the questions are all about Republic Acts and laws.”
Me: “Why like that? I’m not trying to be a lawyer, I just want a driving license!” 😂
Then he said that if I failed, I’d have to wait a month before retaking.
But guess what? We went straight to LTO to ask for the real process.
📌 Here’s what you really need to do:
Medical exam
Create a LTO Portal account
Use the portal to review and take the exams online
📝 Exam details:
✅ First exam: 25 items, passing score is 20
✅ Second exam: 60 items, passing score is 48
❌ If you fail, you can retake daily — just pay ₱100 each time.
So, I went for it! 💪
I took the first exam without any review, just to see the questions. I thought I'd fail and retake the next day.
But surprise — I passed on my first try! 🎉
My sister saw the screen and said, “Hala! You passed!”
I was so shocked and happy!
Unfortunately, I missed the cut- off time for the second exam, so I returned the next day. That night, I studied 10+ Republic Acts related to driving… but during the exam, only R.A. 4136 (Traffic Code) appeared. 😅
I got 44/60 — so, I failed.
Next day again...
💬 Husband: “Stay and review You’re not ready yet.”
Me: “Ready or not, I’ll take it. If I try to study everything, I’ll need 3 months!”
Sister: “She’s so gahi ug ulo " hardheaded.”
Husband: “Once she wants something, she’ll really go for it. That is my asawa Annie ! .”
Me: “No comment.” 🤐
(Deep inside, I was tired, stressed, and I just really wanted to drive for my sister’s wedding the next day.)
📍August 7, 2:00 PM — took the exam again
📍August 7, 4:00 PM — came out of the exam room, teary eyed from happiness
I passed! 51/60!
📍August 8 — I drove! 💃
I was the official driver of my parents and the bride herself! 👰🚗
And the best part?
✨ I only spent less than ₱2,000 total, including transportation.
🚫 No fixer.
🚫 No shortcuts.
✅ Just effort, honesty, and prayer!
So to everyone out there — you CAN do it!
Study smart, be patient, and don’t believe people who say “impossible yan.”
NO TO FIXERS.
YES TO LEGIT PROCESS.
