20 years already ...
My first solo album, « By The Cross », was officially released on February 01, 2005. With my friend and guitarist "Blast", alias Laurent Mainolfi, with whom we went back and forth between Paris and Geneva during the creation of this album. This alliance between him and me was undoubtedly the most brilliant, because for the first time I could use the rooms and machines as I wished, leaving us no limits. We composed what we each felt and together!
Our influences ranged from Metal in the broadest sense of the term, to indus, Tri-pop, electro and New Wave.
We were very influenced by the 80's and 90's "Blast" and I, and on that point we really complemented each other.
Both lyrically and musically, this album was the beginning of an outlet for me! A global vision of the suffering I endured from childhood to adolescence. At last, real questions without the nauseating influence of my family. Zuul FX is undoubtedly the project that gave birth to me as a man and made me realize what I no longer wanted to endure in my life! It was like becoming aware of the reality of the world as it had been programmed into my brain.
For this new album, the band is made up of "Blast" on guitar and myself, Sébastien Bonnet (Satan Jokers) on bass and Aurélien Ouzoulias (Morgbl Trio) on drums.
As with the three-track demo, we recorded for the second time with Francis Caste at Studio Sainte Marthe in Paris. We spent five or six weeks in his studio, and it was a real pleasure to work with this man who has become a legend in France for recording modern metal bands.
We also wanted to make our mark on the metal scene in France and beyond, and we did! Bruce Dickinson ( Iron Maiden) fell in love with our album "By The Cross" and had it broadcast on the BBC in England, which quickly earned us a little recognition on the other side of the Channel.
Since 2005, By The Cross has taken us on tour all over Europe.
