One week in Brisbane, Australia — and today it’s time to head back to France with a 9-hour time difference. Tough on the body, no doubt.
This trip was a big milestone for us: we officially inaugurated and validated our new underwater turret. More compact, more discreet, brand-new electronics, stronger, and therefore more reliable. It even survived a robot relentlessly going after it… and everything kept working as if nothing had happened. Exactly what we like to see.
The competition itself was a show on its own: Australia versus the rest of the world — nothing less. Four hours of finals, completely different rules, and honestly a bit frustrating that it all fits into just one evening. Still, the atmosphere was fantastic: relaxed, friendly, yet with top-level performances across the board.
December here means summer, and it’s hot — but the organization thought of everything. You can see it in the video.
Now it’s time for the long journey back to Nice: 24 hours of travel ahead.
A big thank you to Gravity Australia, Swimaus, and my friends Andrew, Helen, Brooke, and the entire team.
See you soon in Sydney.
