Normandy. Today 81 years ago, the 1st july 1944. An important step was gained by the British allies against the Axe forces in Rauray (Fontenay le pesnel), a terrible battle ended during which Germans tried to strike the spur which was won by the British during Epsom operation, late June 1944. A little video Carpiquet. This was german carpiquet airfield on top, used since 1940. Liberated 1944. During occupation you certainly would have had difficulties to come so near. Today the 80th anniversary of the Totalize operation the advance on Falaise road south of Verrieres- Bourguebus ridge- Being busy i couldn t attend the ceremonies but among some walks in St André sur Orne and St Martin de Fontenay i thought and have seen it is a particuliar year this year and i have seen we had visitors from Canada- included pictures Maltot 23rd july 1944’s- Canada memorial near town hall St André sur Orne- Lest we forget all these brave Liberators fallen and those who survived.

A recent walk near Eterville church where scars of the fightings are still visible ( bullets impacts) due to the battle around it and Fontaine Etoupefour castle -80 years ago-Made me to think about the terrible events British soldiers had endured during the 10th july 1944 and the following night in Hill 112- today’sfreedom from tyranny- 🇬🇧We will remember them.🇬🇧(another article about eterville church in my page.)
