Taking a beloved 15-year-old cycling brand global isn’t just about scaling up production or finding new distributors. When Thai bicycle manufacturer Nich decided to expand beyond Southeast Asia into North America, Europe and Oceania, they faced a more delicate challenge: how do you evolve an identity that carries deep emotional weight for founders and riders alike?⁠

found themselves working with something precious – a brand that had genuine heritage in a market often dominated by newer players chasing trends. Nich wasn’t starting from scratch; they were custodians of a story that began in 2009, with hand-painted custom frames and a community that had grown organically around the brand’s distinct character.⁠

Dean Slab in use by ⁠’s identity for Manchester eatery Deano’s showcases how intentional typographic tension can work beautifully. The Australian studio created a “playful clash of type styles,” using five different typefaces to emulate vintage signwriting while adding a digital edge. “This supports Deano’s overall positioning as nostalgic familiarity yet contemporary,” explains Creative Director Matilda Wilson.⁠

The visual language revolves around circular motifs that echo the ‘three O’s’ – bagels, doughnuts and coffee – while Wes Anderson-inspired product photography presents each item against duo-toned backdrops. The cheeky copywriting includes gems like “don’t fear the schmear” and positions the brand in customers’ “hole foods era.”⁠

.otf Balete is a typeface evoked by the eerie structure of the native balete tree, infamous in Philippine folklore for being a dwelling place of supernatural beings. Characterized by dangling roots which the hemiepiphytic species uses to strangle and eventually consume its host tree victim, the letterforms feature creeping, slender terminals that emerge from twisting stems, wrought from the illusion of fluid calligraphy without the presence of a single curved line.

RISOMA: RISO Printing Exhibition
June 26 — October 23 🌈

The educational programme of RISOMA is a body of its own. It was designed as a space for contagion between knowledge, practices. A way to return to technique what is most precious about it: the possibility of being shared. 🐿️

We’ve divided it into three moments, each with different levels of depth and intensity. With a common thread: the urge to experiment.

1️⃣ RISO from A to Z Workshop – 06/07
A first contact with the machine. For those who’ve never printed before. Participants will learn the basics: colour separation, file prep, printer operation, but most of all, how to dance with unpredictability.

2️⃣ RISO Faux CMYK Workshop – 20/07
An intermediate course for the bold. We start with Faux CMYK. A manual simulation of four-colour printing through ink overlaps, and push further.
All the things the machine doesn’t promise, but allows.

3️⃣ Publishing & Risograph – 31/08, 07/09, 14/09
An intensive lab in editing, curation and production. The third level is a space of synthesis. From concept to final print, participants develop a publication from scratch. But more than making an object, this course is about what it means to edit in risograph: How limits become language. How constraints become choices. It’s demanding, and doesn’t hide it.

La maquette s’appuie sur une grille en deux colonnes, offrant une lecture fluide et fonctionnelle. De nombreuses notes et légendes photographiques viennent s’inscrire dans une colonne plus étroite tout en rythmant les pages et en s’associant à l’iconographie. Il nous semblait essentiel de donner toute leur place aux iconographies pour restituer la richesse et l’atmosphère de l’œuvre provençale de Fayet.
Afin de rythmer le parcours de lecture et marquer les passages des écrits des six auteurs invités, nous avons imaginé des intercalaires aux fonds bleus, véritables respirations visuelles entre les chapitres.

The layout is based on a two-column grid, providing a fluid and functional reading experience. Numerous notes and photographic captions appear in a narrower column, giving rhythm to the pages and complementing the iconography. We felt it was essential to give the illustrations their rightful place in order to convey the richness and atmosphere of Fayet’s Provençal work.
To punctuate the reading experience and mark the passages in the writings of the six guest authors, we designed dividers with blue backgrounds, providing a visual breathing space between the chapters.
