Cambodia is a land deeply intertwined with Angelina Jolie’s most cherished memories.
Following the filming of Tomb Raider (2001), the actress developed a profound bond with this Southeast Asian nation, ranging from humanitarian efforts to the establishment of her own charitable foundation. It is also the ancestral homeland of Maddox, her eldest son and first adopted child.
In 2003, after adopting Maddox, Jolie purchased a plot of land in Cambodia. She later transformed it into a sprawling estate featuring lush gardens, a swimming pool, and a private creative studio.
In a interview with The Wall Street Journal, the Hollywood star expressed her desire to spend "more time in Cambodia" and transition toward a more private lifestyle. "When I was first starting out, it wasn't as much of an expectation to be as public, to share as much," she shared, reflecting on her need for a sanctuary away from the spotlight.
