Dans un cercle de phares braqués sur elle comme autant de regards, JANIS entre dans l’arène. Le clip met en scène la violence de l’exposition vécue par les personnes trans dans une société qui observe, commente et projette.

Mais ici, la lumière change de camp. Ce qui devait enfermer devient source de rayonnement. Janis transforme le regard des autres en cercle de soin et signe un puissant récit de renaissance, d’autodétermination et de liberté.


« L’histoire de ce titre, c’est le moment où je me suis donné la liberté de changer mon prénom. C’est ma mère, décédée quand j’étais petite, qui me l’avait donné. Au début de ma transition, j’aurais aimé en parler avec elle, ça me gênait de me renommer sans pouvoir échanger avec elle à ce sujet. Mais c’est aussi un morceau sur le besoin de réapprendre à se séduire, à aimer son corps. Et je trouve intéressant de voir ce prénom, aussi, comme une performance. » Janis

In a circle of headlights trained on her like so many watchful eyes, JANIS steps into the arena. The music video depicts the violence of exposure experienced by trans people in a society that watches, comments and projects.

But here, the light shifts sides. What was meant to confine becomes a source of radiance. Janis transforms the gaze of others into a circle of care and delivers a powerful narrative of rebirth, self-determination and freedom.

« The story behind this track is the moment I gave myself the freedom to change my first name. It was given to me by my mother, who passed away when I was young. At the start of my transition, I would have liked to talk to her about it — I felt uncomfortable renaming myself without being able to have that conversation with her. But it’s also a song about the need to relearn how to seduce yourself, to love your own body. And I find it interesting to see this name, too, as a performance. » Janis

is a Brazilian (anti)princess dragged straight out of Latin American magical realism.
A transfeminine tr****ti singer-songwriter and multidisciplinary artist suspended between music, visceral cinema and futuristic opera, she exists in the blur between alien and warrior.
Loved, rejected, fetishized, worshipped, bullied and reborn through every collision. Didirella doesn’t survive experience, she transforms wound in weapon, vulnerability into spectacle.. Her universe fuses sensuality and spirituality until sacred and profane become indistinguishable. Until danger and tenderness taste the same.
Music is her portal. A ritual. Her songs move through dream-pop hazes, cinematic melancholy and experimental textures. Intimacy that bleeds into theatricality, sadness braided with erotic power. At the center: the stubborn and chaotic desire to imagine a beautiful, collective future. Ahead. Still possible.
The name Didirella shares its onomastic lineage with Barbarella and Vampirella, charged with the heat, melodrama and symbolic weight of Brazilian feminine mythology, from Jorge Amado’s Gabriela to Tieta. (Her therapist noted the lineage goes also to Cinderella. She refuses).
Her influences move freely: Madonna, Britney Spears and Xuxa colliding with Yoko Ono, Tropicália, Marina Lima, Rita Lee, Gal Costa and Madredeus.
More than an artist, Didirella positions herself inside a feminine revolution of love. Freer, less binary, radically warmer and softer.

ancien électron libre de la scène punk UK des 80s avec son groupe living in texas, spaceman continue cette série de réinterprétations avec «hot day in waco» de

«j’ai rencontré dogbowl pour la première fois alors qu’il était invité lors d’une tournée que j’organisais pour l’artiste français silvain vanot. sa boîte à rythmes est tombée en panne pendant la balance d’un concert et il m’a demandé de la remplacer à la batterie, alors que je n’avais jamais touché une batterie de ma vie. le parrain du lo-fi. que dire de plus ? waco a toujours été ma chanson préférée de dogbowl, et dogbowl est l’un de mes artistes préférés en concert depuis la première fois que je l’ai vu sur scène. Il est même venu à la toute première répétition de spaceman à paris en 1997. il a toujours été une présence musicale constante dans ma vie.»

“i first met dogbowl when he was guesting on a tour i was managing for french artist silvain vanot. his drum machine broke during the soundcheck of a concert and he asked me to fill in on drums despite the fact i had never played drums in my life. the godfather of lo-fi. what else is there to say. waco has always been my favourite dogbowl song and dogbowl has been a favourite live artist of mine since the first time I ever saw him live. he even came to spaceman’s very first rehearsal in paris in 1997. he has been a constant musical presence in my life.”

Two releases today for the new era!

Today see the new era of Merryn jeann with the release of two new tracks : “Tender Chaotic” and “Chocolate Cake, Nail Polish, Underwear (Why Can Everything Be Such a Big Deal)”.

Both of these tracks and videos are totally produced by Merryn herself.
“Coming to realise that she ain’t always lighthearted. Tender in my chaos, but chaotic none the less. A soft cathartic weep sung with a thousand layers of reverb dipped vocals and the tenderness of a century old guitar.” Merryn on Tender Chaotic.

“A poem turned song, scribbled onto a piece of scrap paper. I remember lying in the bath at a friend’s Berlin apartment I was staying in during covid. I had been alone for a few weeks and was feeling very connected to the literal translation of emotions in this time. A few years later I was diagnosed with ADHD and the answer to this question was revealed.” Merryn on Chocolate Cake.

Aujourd’hui marque le début d’une nouvelle ère pour Merryn Jeann avec la sortie de deux nouveaux titres : « Tender Chaotic » et « Chocolate Cake, Nail Polish, Underwear (Why Can Everything Be Such a Big Deal) ».

Ces deux titres et leurs clips ont été entièrement produits par Merryn.
« Je me rends compte qu’elle n’est pas toujours insouciante. Tendre dans mon chaos, mais chaotique quand même. Un doux sanglot cathartique chanté avec une voix baignée de mille couches de réverbération et la tendresse d’une guitare centenaire. » Merryn sur Tender Chaotic.

« Un poème devenu chanson, griffonné sur un bout de papier. Je me souviens m’être allongée dans la baignoire de l’appartement berlinois d’une amie chez qui je logeais pendant la pandémie. J’étais seule depuis quelques semaines et je me sentais très en phase avec la traduction littérale des émotions à cette période. Quelques années plus t**d, on m’a diagnostiqué un TDAH et la réponse à cette question s’est révélée. » Merryn sur Chocolate Cake

“je suis fan des cleaners depuis aussi longtemps que je me souvienne. j’ai chroniqué le tout premier single solo de martin newell, young jobless, en 1980. il a toujours fait partie de ma vie à colchester depuis le début des années 70. son premier album solo (the greatest living englishman) est mon troisième album préféré de tous les temps (après le white album et aladdin sane). ma version est à l’opposé de la beauté pastorale de l’original. je rêve d’être scott walker. j’ai également eu l’occasion d’être le tour manager des cleaners et martin m’a laissé réaliser des documentaires sur la tournée britannique (all the way from venus) et les concerts à guichets fermés à londres (corridor of dreams).”

“i have been a fan of the cleaners since forever. i critiqued martin newell’s first ever solo-single young jobless back in 1980. he has been an ever present figure in my world in colchester since the beginning of the 70s. his debut solo-album (the greatest living englishman) is my third favourite album of all time (after the white album and aladdin sane.) my version is the complete opposite to the pastoral beauty of the original. i dream of being scott walker. i also got to tour-manage the cleaners and martin let me make documentaries about the UK tour (all the way from venus) and the sell-out london shows (corridor of dreams.)”

JANIS - «Dolls » out now!

JANIS revient aujourd’hui avec son troisième single, « Dolls », hymne pop libérateur sur lequel elle convoque son ancien personnage et alias Sliimy en featuring.

« “Dolls” parle d’un terme très utilisé et médiatisé pour évoquer les personnes trans, en les comparant à des poupées. Mais c’est aussi la consolidation d’un mot issu d’un système patriarcal, qui nous réduit à des figures fantasmées et sublimées, ce que je trouve très réducteur. Doit-on vraiment ressembler à des poupées pour être protégées et respectées ? Convoquer Sliimy en featuring, c’était un clin d’œil à mon passé avec lui, et un rappel que le personnage qu’il incarnait avait lui aussi quelque chose de la poupée. » - JANIS

JANIS is back today with her third single, “Dolls” a liberating pop anthem on which she brings back her former persona and features Sliimy.

“ ‘Dolls’ refers to a term that’s widely used and hyped in the media to describe trans people, comparing them to dolls. But it also reinforces a word rooted in a patriarchal system, which reduces us to fantasised and idealised figures – something I find very reductive. Do we really have to look like dolls to be protected and respected? Bringing Sliimy on as a featured artist was a nod to my past with him, and a reminder that the character he embodied also had something of a doll about him.” - JANIS
