🔴 Steve Spacek’s Dub Remix — a Lovers Rock–leaning reup from the UK icon, straight out of his own laboratory. Merryn and Steve linked up through her Musical Bonanza party, and this one’s a gift for every DJ heading to Notting Hill Carnival

🔵 Tralala Blip Remix — the original vocals run through the Australian outlet’s machine laboratory (Digitakt, Microcosm, Fourm, Perkons & more), morphing from clear voice into something cloudier by the track’s end. « The voices must come from clouds above a volcano on a mystical island. » — Matthew, Tralala Blip

Rescue + Return Records a le plaisir de présenter, en avant-première à Marseille, le film de Merryn Jeann, suivi d’une performance live rare de l’artiste australienne.
« Fear of the Beauty Parlour suit une citadine qui se détache du tumulte urbain pour s’envoler vers un paradis lointain, où elle rejoint un culte qui danse en Utopie — les vestiges de la ville se dissolvant dans son subconscient. »
Premiers pas en tant que réalisatrice, tourné avec une petite équipe (Amber Wright, Lucia Canuto, Vivienne De Matteis) sur les terres Widjabul Wia-Bul et Arakwal de la Nation Bundjalung.

Nous sommes extrêmement heureux d’accueillir Merryn Jeann, artiste multi-primée australienne aux performances magnétiques dans ce cocon intimiste.

Rescue + Return Records is pleased to present the premiere screening of Merryn Jeann’s film in Marseille, followed by a rare live performance by the Australian artist.

« Fear of the Beauty Parlour follows a city girl who shakes off the big smoke and flies to a paradise far away, finding herself in a cult who dance happily in Utopia, the remnants of the city fading into her subconscious. »
Her directorial debut, made with a small team (Amber Wright, Lucia Canuto, Vivienne De Matteis), filmed on Widjabul Wia-Bul and Arakwal Country of the Bundjalung Nation.

We’re thrilled to welcome Merryn Jeann, award-winning Australian artist known for her magnetic performances, into this intimate setting.

Amateur Radio Postcard is out !

Amateur Radio Postcard, an angelic and hypnotic lullaby that immerses us in the lo-fi intimacy of Merryn Jeann’s holiday memories. Both romantic and cinematic, the track embodies the raw, instinctive spirit that runs through the entire Fear Of The Beauty Parlour album project.

“Amateur Radio Postcard was written on a caravan trip around Aotearoa/ NZ with my bf 
I found a pile of ‘Ham Radio’ Postcards in an antique store. I think they were from someone’s deceased estate because they were sent from all around the world to the one dude. 
Ham radio is basically DIY non commercial radio that one can transmit from their house to communicate an array of information and signals

Anyway it was something literal and directly responding to these postcards (which are truly iconic works of graphic designs)” Merryn Jeann

À la fois romantique et cinématographique, le morceau incarne l’esprit brut et instinctif qui traverse l’ensemble du projet d’album Fear Of The Beauty Parlour.

« Amateur Radio Postcard a été écrit lors d’un voyage en caravane à travers l’Aotearoa/Nouvelle-Zélande avec mon copain.
J’ai trouvé une pile de cartes postales « Ham Radio » dans une boutique d’antiquités. Je pense qu’elles provenaient de la succession d’une personne décédée, car elles avaient été envoyées des quatre coins du monde à un seul et même destinataire.
La radio amateur est essentiellement une radio artisanale et non commerciale qui permet d’émettre depuis chez soi pour transmettre toute une série d’informations et de signaux.

Quoi qu’il en soit, il s’agissait d’une réponse littérale et directe à ces cartes postales (qui sont vraiment des œuvres graphiques iconiques). » Merryn Jeann

JANIS - Cry With Us LP is out !

Le 19 juin nous sortions Cry With Us, le premier album de JANIS, un album où JANIS quitte le contre-jour dans lequel elle s’était réfugiée pour embrasser la lumière, de manière solaire, en un mouvement d’affranchissement et de quête d’identité et de liberté sans pareille. Une œuvre de renaissance et de résilience, où l’émancipation devient un manifeste politique.

Pour célébrer la sortie de l’album, nous avons aussi sorti des vinyles en édition limitée, l’édition archive, comprenant 3 artworks exclusifs tirés à 100 exemplaires chacun. Les premiers vinyles de chaque édition sont dédicacés par l’artiste, n’hésitez pas à faire un tour sur notre boutique (lien en bio).

On 19 June, we released Cry With Us, JANIS’s debut album – an album in which JANIS steps out of the shadows where she had taken refuge to embrace the light, in a radiant gesture of liberation and an unparalleled quest for identity and freedom. A work of rebirth and resilience, in which emancipation becomes a political manifesto.

To celebrate the album’s release, we’ve also released limited-edition vinyls – the ‘Archive Edition’ – featuring three exclusive cover designs, each printed in a run of 100 copies. The first vinyls in each edition are signed by the artist, so do pop over to our shop (link in bio).

Dans un cercle de phares braqués sur elle comme autant de regards, JANIS entre dans l’arène. Le clip met en scène la violence de l’exposition vécue par les personnes trans dans une société qui observe, commente et projette.

Mais ici, la lumière change de camp. Ce qui devait enfermer devient source de rayonnement. Janis transforme le regard des autres en cercle de soin et signe un puissant récit de renaissance, d’autodétermination et de liberté.


« L’histoire de ce titre, c’est le moment où je me suis donné la liberté de changer mon prénom. C’est ma mère, décédée quand j’étais petite, qui me l’avait donné. Au début de ma transition, j’aurais aimé en parler avec elle, ça me gênait de me renommer sans pouvoir échanger avec elle à ce sujet. Mais c’est aussi un morceau sur le besoin de réapprendre à se séduire, à aimer son corps. Et je trouve intéressant de voir ce prénom, aussi, comme une performance. » Janis

But here, the light shifts sides. What was meant to confine becomes a source of radiance. Janis transforms the gaze of others into a circle of care and delivers a powerful narrative of rebirth, self-determination and freedom.

« The story behind this track is the moment I gave myself the freedom to change my first name. It was given to me by my mother, who passed away when I was young. At the start of my transition, I would have liked to talk to her about it — I felt uncomfortable renaming myself without being able to have that conversation with her. But it’s also a song about the need to relearn how to seduce yourself, to love your own body. And I find it interesting to see this name, too, as a performance. » Janis

is a Brazilian (anti)princess dragged straight out of Latin American magical realism.
A transfeminine tr****ti singer-songwriter and multidisciplinary artist suspended between music, visceral cinema and futuristic opera, she exists in the blur between alien and warrior.
Loved, rejected, fetishized, worshipped, bullied and reborn through every collision. Didirella doesn’t survive experience, she transforms wound in weapon, vulnerability into spectacle.. Her universe fuses sensuality and spirituality until sacred and profane become indistinguishable. Until danger and tenderness taste the same.
Music is her portal. A ritual. Her songs move through dream-pop hazes, cinematic melancholy and experimental textures. Intimacy that bleeds into theatricality, sadness braided with erotic power. At the center: the stubborn and chaotic desire to imagine a beautiful, collective future. Ahead. Still possible.
The name Didirella shares its onomastic lineage with Barbarella and Vampirella, charged with the heat, melodrama and symbolic weight of Brazilian feminine mythology, from Jorge Amado’s Gabriela to Tieta. (Her therapist noted the lineage goes also to Cinderella. She refuses).
Her influences move freely: Madonna, Britney Spears and Xuxa colliding with Yoko Ono, Tropicália, Marina Lima, Rita Lee, Gal Costa and Madredeus.
More than an artist, Didirella positions herself inside a feminine revolution of love. Freer, less binary, radically warmer and softer.
