sits on Yagaji Island, off the northern coast of Okinawa. No traffic lights. A beach so untouched the sea turtles still return to nest in its sand at dawn.

Founded in 1975 and quietly reborn in January 2025 after a seven-year renovation. Floorboards from the original inn now line the walls of the new lobby. The logo holds Ufuiishi, the sacred stone of the village.

At check-in, every guest is handed an LED lantern. As the island falls into full darkness, it becomes the light that carries you through the evening — on the terrace, along the beach, through the village paths.

A place that gives back what modern life quietly takes: attention, presence, connection.

Right on Vienna’s Ringstraße in the 1st district, brings mid-century design, Persian rugs, and traditional Austrian hospitality together without leaning too far into either.

Rooms layer dark woods, warm textiles, and bay windows opening onto the Ringstraße. The rooftop turns into Limón in the evenings, a Mediterranean restaurant looking out over the city skyline.

Nihonbashi Kabutocho was once Tokyo’s Wall Street. K5 is what it became — 20 rooms inside a pre-war building transformed into something soft, slow, and deeply sensory.

No televisions. A record player instead. A bed wrapped in floor-to-ceiling Aizome indigo curtains. Greenery rising through original concrete walls.

Downstairs, Cafe Dance runs from morning coffee into natural wine. Akai Bar takes over at night — crimson, library-like, built around Japanese whisky and precision cocktails.

Putting a record on becomes part of the ritual of being there. An old, deliberate act in a city that rarely stops moving.

K5 is the most beautiful door into one of Tokyo’s most interesting neighbourhoods.
