FEI Endurance Forum 2026 Session summaries
Dear FEI Endurance Stakeholders,

Collaborative discussions and open consultations took centre stage at the FEI Endurance Forum held from 16–17 January in Perugia (ITA). Members of the international Endurance community gathered in person to discuss topics such as the current state of the discipline, the Horse Out of Competition Testing concept and the role of Organising Committees, to name a few.

USEF annonces new FEI educational guides designed to help athletes and horse owners navigate the process of getting started in FEI Endurance competition. Developed in response to common questions and areas of confusion, the guides provide clear, step-by-step information to support those new to the FEI Endurance pathway.

The first guide, How to Get Started with FEI Endurance, outlines the requirements and preparation needed to compete at the FEI level. The guide is divided into two sections: one for athletes and one for horse owners. Each group can easily identify their specific responsibilities, including registration requirements, eligibility criteria, and preparation timelines.

The second resource, How to Enter Your First FEI Endurance Ride, walks athletes through the FEI entry process from start to finish. Because FEI entries must be submitted by the athlete, the guide is written primarily for riders, while also noting the role horse owners play in the process and emphasizing that entries must be completed through the athlete.

“These guides were created to help alleviate some of the stress and uncertainty that often comes with starting FEI Endurance,” said the Nicole Zerbee, Director of Endurance. “By clearly outlining the steps for both athletes and horse owners, we hope to make the process more approachable and set participants up for success from the beginning.”

So the new fei endurance rules are now published. Not many changes as the big rule review isn't until 2028.
