Pour l'occasion il invite un de ses plus proches amis émissaire émérite de la scène bass parisienne, membre actif des crews et et fin connoisseur de la club music globale ! Ses sets naviguent entre dancehall déviant, UK Funky, baile funk crapuleux et footwork. Un DJ balèze qui décloisonne les styles, comme on s'acharne à le faire depuis dix ans. Inratable !

Ahead of our London gig at , Adrien paid another visit to the Piñata Radio studio to record a new mix paying tribute to UK club music culture, showcasing a small bit of the evolution of the UK Funky sound, weaving afro-house, broken beat and straight up Mawimbi staples together. Since the beginning of Mawimbi, the London music scene has had a strong influence on the way we approach music. We've always felt closer to the UK music scene than any other music scene in the world, hence our many collaborations with UK-based talents such as .and.afla and .ldn ! Tomorrow night will be a great occasion for us to showcase our love of UK Funky sounds, so come have a dance with us!

Hey people, Adrien speaking here, I’m one of Mawimbi’s founding members and I’ve been Mawimbi’s Records label manager since its inception in 2015.

I’ve had the idea to make a mix made exclusively of the tracks released on Mawimbi Records for quite a long time now. And it felt natural to try to do it this year, in 2023, as Mawimbi celebrates a decade of music activism. So I paid a visit to the good old Rinse France studio, whom I had the pleasure to be a resident at for many years when I hosted the « Radio Mawimbi » show, to record this very special mix.

So I’m happy to present such a mix for the first time, although it could have been definitely better - blame it, in part, on my defective USB stick! But still, this first attempt at presenting the sheer richness and diversity of the releases on Mawimbi Records as a cohesive whole was really a lot of fun!

As I assembled these tracks together, I gradually realized how some of these tracks somehow felt connected to each other. Some of these connections were of course bullet-proof tested as I had already tried them out in our DJ sets. But most of them were brand new! It just felt really good to hear these tracks in another context, transitioning into one another.
