On Wednesday, 28th May 2026, the Border Patrol Unit (BPU) of the Gambia Immigration Department based in the North Bank Region, in collaboration with the Village Development Committee of Jinack Kajata, recovered three unidentified bodies at the Jinack Crossing Point during a routine night patrol.

The recovered bodies comprised two (2) males and one (1) female. The victims are suspected to have been part of a taxi migrant boat that reportedly capsized off the coast while attempting to join a migrant vessel at sea.

The bodies were subsequently handed over to the Essau Police Station for further investigation and necessary action.

The Gambia Immigration Department notes with concern the continued loss of lives associated with the perilous irregular migration journey. The Department urges communities to support national efforts aimed at protecting lives and discouraging clandestine migration activities.

May the souls of the deceased rest in peace, and may comfort be granted to their families and loved ones.

On the morning of Monday, May 25, a group of 26 people, almost half of them children, arrived in the Ormos Agios area on the northwest coast of Samos.

After their arrival, the group moved uphill.

A man wanted on more than 15 charges of fraud and embezzlement against pharmaceutical companies in Tripoli was arrested by the Investigations, Evidence Gathering, and Arrest Department of the Criminal Investigation Department.

The Investigations, Evidence Gathering, and Arrest Department of the Criminal Investigation Department reported that its efforts led to the arrest of a man against whom an arrest warrant had been issued after his involvement in more than fifteen cases of fraud and embezzlement against several pharmaceutical companies in Tripoli.

According to details, a circular was received from the Tripoli Security Directorate indicating that the suspect had fled to Benghazi. The Investigations Department of the Criminal Investigation Department then initiated an investigation and information gathering to determine his whereabouts. After surveillance, he was located in the Budzira area.

In a well-executed ambush, officers from the department apprehended him in front of his home. He was then taken to the department's headquarters and placed in legal custody pending completion of the necessary legal procedures and referral to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

As part of ongoing security efforts by the Directorate Support Force in the Western Region – Zuwarah Office, in cooperation with the Zuwarah Deployment and Patrol Office of the Security Administration of the Counter-Threats Agency, a large-scale security campaign was conducted targeting gatherings of undocumented migrant workers within the municipality, particularly in public places and areas designated for families.

The campaign resulted in the arrest of approximately 57 individuals of various nationalities, who were referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.

These security operations are part of maintaining public security, protecting the social fabric and demographic composition of the country, and confronting any manifestations or practices that may contribute to imposing an illegal reality or affect the stability of society and its national identity.

The Agency affirms its continued commitment to carrying out security duties with firmness and responsibility, in coordination with various relevant agencies, to preserve the security of the nation and its citizens, and to safeguard the sovereignty and stability of the state.
