Y do some American seem to have a difficult relationship with ideologies? Let's look at some research.

Y are some Americans so awkward when it comes to ideologies? Communism, capitalism, socialism: from Mamdani to Trump, something's going on. Let's look at what researchers say!

I keep hearing that AI will help fix global warming, so I went looking for the real, concrete ways it can help. Turns out… the useful stuff is the old school, boring kind. Grid optimization, weather prediction, precision agriculture. The kind that runs on local hardware and actually reduces emissions.
Not the giant compute farms powering anime girlfriends and auto generated TikTok slop.

Some reactions feel automatic, but they’re not destiny. So the real question isn’t whether you’d be a hero. It’s which script you’re practicing long before the moment arrives.
What would yours say?

American reactions to the Epstein files are not just about the allegations. They tap into a moral reflex rooted in Puritan ideas that still shape US politics. In this view private behavior is never fully private and crossing certain lines becomes a community crisis. It is a very old story showing up in a modern moment.

Americans are not reacting to the Epstein files in isolation.
A cultural reflex is kicking in, one shaped by centuries of moral thinking where private actions are seen as public danger. Political scientist James Morone traces this back to Puritan roots that still shape how scandals explode today.
What do you think this moment reveals about American political culture?

American outrage over the Epstein files is revealing something older than the republic itself. A moral code that still governs political loyalty far more than we admit. And if that code is cracking now… the implications reach far beyond this story.

Beyond demolishing the East Wing, Trump is building an Arch of Triumph in Washington. Here’s a foundational study of how Rome used triumphs and monumental arches to ritualize power, legitimize conquest, and elevate leaders beyond the ordinary. Dr Mary Beard’s work shows why these symbols still resonate in modern political culture...

In theory, Mamdani flirts with socialism.
In practice, he’s a Scandinavian bureaucrat with better branding. What are your thoughts?

Ten years later, the 1.5°C goal is out of reach, but so is total collapse.
We’ve narrowed the range from “maybe fine” to “definitely not fine.”
Emissions are at record highs, and countries are backtracking.
The question now isn’t if we failed...it’s how we adapt.

Y Mamdani's victory might be a trap... if Democrats are not prepared to face the (apparently) inevitable limits of social democracy.
While research shows social democracy delivers on many things, its fundamental lack of transformational power on certain issues may paradoxically lead to both more radicality and more victories for the right.

Here's Y Mamdani is not a socialist .... and not even a democratic socialist.
He's probably best described as a social democrat. Democratic socialism was originally a more radical movement than social democracy. But politicians like Bernie Sanders conflated the two terms. They now, de facto, mean advocating for the same policies. More resources in our upcoming carousel.
