In Issue 08: Food is Vice, Berlin writer Joe Baur heads out after dark with food YouTuber and döner connaisseur Arseny Knaifel (Andong), stopping in at Baran Döner Station.

There, the crowd is a mix of club kids
and blue-collar workers ending late shifts. All together, they create a buzzing energy Berliners crave when the sun’s about to come up. The insider move? Get a döner and a classic hot dog.

On August 6th at 12:00, Serviette will be hosting a panel discussion at the Copenhagen Fashion Week Creative Hub entitled The Iconography of Food.

Our panel will discuss how food and hospitality have become key elements of a new iconography of personal identity. Every meal has the potential to become a cultural signal, with the Trader Joe’s tote becoming the latest must-have accessory, and the right restaurant reservation feeling like front row seats at a runway show. As restaurants begin acting more like creative studios, and fashion houses push into the hospitality space, this panel discussion will explore what the aestheticisation of food tells us about the future of fashion, luxury and the experience economy.

Hosted by Serviette Magazine Publisher Max Meignen, our panellists include Jacob Kampp Berliner, Copenhagen restauranteur and founder of Soulland , Camilla Almblom, founder of Veatery, a creative studio focusing on the intersection of gastronomy, brand storytelling, and experience design, and Eva Hurtigkarl, cookbook author and head chef at GANNI. Join us on August 6th at the Creative Hub on Papirøen from 12:00-13:00.
