MAPEZA TAKES OVER AS SCOTTLAND HEAD COACH

Former FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has officially been unveiled as the new head coach of Scottland FC, marking a major shift in the club’s technical leadership. The appointment follows the unexpected departure of Tonderai Ndiraya, who stunned the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League last season by steering Scottland to a historic league title in their debut campaign.

Mapeza’s arrival was facilitated by club benefactor Sir Wicknell Chivayo, who presented the coach to the media and supporters at an unveiling ceremony this afternoon. Also present were Scottland president Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya and members of his executive, signalling unified backing for the club’s new technical direction.

In a development that has caught the attention of many in local football circles, it is now clear that Mapeza’s trusted lieutenant, Daniel Veremu, will be joining him as his first assistant coach. Abel Mavura, a Zimbabwean doctoral researcher currently based in the UK, has been awarded the prestigious Clutton-Brock Cambridge Studentship to pursue an MPhil/PhD in Architecture and Urban Studies at the University of Cambridge, starting in October 2025.

A few weeks ago, he became the first African doctoral researcher to receive the Margaret Mead Memorial Award, presented by the International Society for the Systems Sciences and the International Federation for Systems Research. Abel will also receive the Zimbabwe Global Achievers Award later this year for his outstanding contributions as part of the diaspora.
