Tonight we will be discussing an inbox we received it did cause quite a stir in the group, here goes

A man is the best man at his younger brother’s wedding, but his wife has been deliberately left off the guest list following an argument with the bride-to-be. The twist? His wife was defending his mother, who is now attending the wedding and trying to keep the peace.

Should he stand by his brother and attend alone, or stand by his wife and stay away?

We’ll also be joined by our guest panelist Dionne Thompson, so join the No Bravado Massive live at 8pm and have your say.

I’m 48 and I’ve been married to my wife for five years.
My younger brother is getting married in a few months. We’ve always been close, I’m his best man, and I naturally assumed my wife would be invited. Instead, he called me privately and said, “You can come, but your wife isn’t invited.”

The issue started at a family gathering last year when his fiancée made disrespectful comments about our mum. My wife, who had always been close to Mum, defended her and told the fiancée she was out of order. They argued, words were exchanged, and since then the fiancée has wanted nothing to do with my wife.
My wife is furious and says, “I defended your mother, and now I’m the one being punished?”

My dad agrees with her. He says I should stand by my wife, stay home, and have drinks with him instead.
But Mum is still going to the wedding and is now being extra friendly with my brother’s fiancée because she doesn’t want to be excluded. She says we’re all family and the argument has gone too far.
My wife feels betrayed. She believes Mum has forgotten who defended her and is now sucking up to the same woman who disrespected her. She now wants nothing to do with Mum, which I understand, but she’s still my mother.

My brother says it’s his wedding, his fiancée deserves to feel comfortable, and I shouldn’t miss one of the biggest days of his life over “an argument between women.”

The family is divided. Do I attend without my wife because he’s my brother, or stay home and stand by my marriage?
Should Mum support the woman who defended her, or keep the peace so she can attend her son’s wedding?

Who comes first: your spouse, your sibling or your mother?
At this point, I might take Dad up on his offer of drinks at home.

This conversation needed to happen. Because there is still a very real problem in our community when it comes to mental health. Talking about it. Seeking help for it. Feeling safe enough to even admit that you're struggling.

We sat down with someone who represents Black mental health and we talked about their journey, because representation matters. Seeing someone who looks like you, who has been through something and come out the other side, changes what feels possible.

There is a safe space in Black mental health. But too many of us don't know it exists, or don't believe it's meant for us.
That ends here. 💙
