BAP Gallery’s “Making Artists Known” series presents contemporary artists shaping the current cultural landscape, providing a live, sensory impression.
Known for his works created over long months, perhaps years, collecting leaves, flowers, and all the natural materials he finds in the forests, fields, and even the marine life of Ibiza specifically, which then resonate with the artist Fidel Olaya, giving meaning to his new individual stories, where he carefully and calmly composes each piece in its vibrant environments.
He has long challenged conventional ideas about the specific treatment of his meticulous and well-crafted work, eventually finding a unique technique of his own. He approaches each surface as an individual and potential space, creating stories in each of the light lamps, as he calls them.
He meticulously selects the wood, prepares it, paints it, and builds the lamp structure, before moving on to the final creation and assembly process.
To contemplate the 20 lit lamps is to enter a space of harmony and stillness, as the exhibition is titled.
The artist Fidel’s project, Stillness, temporary exhibition, May 4-31, 2025. More information here.

“This is the word through which these images have been reflected, and also their Emanation.
It is May in a garden.
The plant world is awake, and the sap of spring follows its vertical path from earth to sky, renewing Life.
That is why this exhibition refers to another movement, one that also emerges from Nature:
Stillness.
This movement has settled, almost by gravity, on all the plant elements we see in the compositions, evoking atmospheres of serenity that also settle within us. “. Fidel Olaya
