Following the messages published yesterday on Twitter and reddit, here are some explanations from Xavier Calvi, President of eagle gaming.
As you may have known, our company is actually experiencing difficulties, aggravated by the wage delays in recent months.
While we paid for several months wages between 2 k+ and 4,5 k+ euros net to staff and players and obtained positive results (6 played competitions of which 4 won consecutively), our investors Never respected their promises. On the other hand, our contacted sponsors recanted because of the controversial fps image.
Moreover, following conversations with the overwatch league structures, we realized that our players might not be caught in the league because of the buyout.
We did not in any way want their talent to be ruined by this situation and therefore gave up this buyout which could only penalise them.
The equation was simple:
With buyout = NO PLAYER SALE = not owl for them
Without Buyout = NO PLAYER SALE = Owl for them.
The three associates of eagle gaming, of which I am still a part (and who have never been paid for their work), are committed to finding solutions as soon as possible. I remain optimistic about the resolution of these delays with our partners.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who have been involved in their personal capacity and all my close collaborators who have allowed the team to succeed in the overwatch contenders Europe.
On my side, my wish to advance esports remains intact.
