MakeUp City is a fashion editorial by Alessandro Santi, Claudia Holzinger and Dalmonia Rognean. The project presents a character whose identity appears in five layers, much like an onion — examining how social norms encourage individuals to construct layers of appearance as protective clothing that shields the vulnerable inner self. Rather than switching between personalities, identity is built by adding expressive layers over time, creating more resilient surfaces shaped by the pressures and expectations of the external world.
