• Spending time in the UK always reminds you how strong the car scene is in the country. Get in any countryside pub with a classic car and it won’t be long before you chat with an enthusiast who will share plenty of memories of motorbike trials or racing cars test drives, have a stroll in London & you will see old motoring glories randomly parked in the streets, ask where to go on a Sunday morning and you will have multiple options of events. Add a twist of eccentricity, a mix of generations enjoying cars to the full in every possible way, a dose of Britishness with Barbours, old rock band T-shirts & pints of ale, and you realise how cars are truly part of British culture, and how it is never dull. Amis anglais, ne changez rien & à bientôt !

Special thanks to for the warm welcome in the one of a kind Classic & Cakes, to & for the London rides, for the countryside pub ride & for the asado with fellow car enthusiasts 💯

Almost a week has gone since another glorious Goodwood Members Meeting ⚡️The fight for victory was stronger than ever in every grid, from the prewar titans to the GT40s being overpassed by a superb Dino 206, not forgetting the fierce battles between Lotus Cortinas & Minis, or the one seeing two Aston Martin DB4GTs dancing on track. It all reminds us how 🇬🇧 has always been a leading home of car racing. With arms wide open to welcome GT3 cars, Le Mans latest entrants & even the brand new IWC sponsored F1 car driven by Brad Pitt, Goodwood has once again been the home of everything fast on two or four wheels ✨Thank you for their warm welcome & supporting motor racing.

It la this time of the year again, Tour Auto is back on French roads with its mix of special stages on close roads, races on tracks and chateau lunches. The trend seen in the previous years is truer than ever with fewer fifties cars, fewer classic Ferraris and a lot more fully race prepared 911s & E Types. All very colourful!

The Nationale 7 aka "la route bleue" is a legendary road in France, having been the most popular link between Paris and the Med. for decades. This was the road of choices for families going to holidays or lorry drivers crossing France. It was famous for its restaurants from "les routiers" offering cheap meals to many Michelin starred restaurants tackling at Lamborghini Miuras drivers. It was also famous for its traffic jams, now recreated as classic car events in cities crossed by old portions of the road. Replaced by highways and no longer officially called N7, it is still very popular in France thanks to an army of volunteers & enthusiasts who have created events, written books ( Dubois illustrations and books in particular) and patiently restored some of its landmarks. One of them is an old OZO petrol station in Le Coteau near Roanne. It has long been derelict until a group of volunteers decided to restore it back to its former glory. Today, this humble building stands out for its gracious architecture, bright colours and great typography. It has become one of the road most famous landmark stops for a cars & coffee (though there is no coffee to be found) and chat with the volunteers who restored it. We have been welcomed by one of them, Alain, who opened the doors and explained the restoration process. We could even buy a very cool lighter & bottle opener under Ozo colors. It is great to see our heritage being restored & well alive. Bravo!

Here is a scrapbook of the second stage of our last March run. It started under torrential rain in Ardeche while we climbed mountain roads within a forest of giant pine trees towards lac de Villefort. The road around the lake was an absolute dream as we were surrounded by mountains, wild cascades and streams. We then drove towards Tarn gorges through winding roads and spectacular views. Empty Tarn gorges roads proved to be a dream for the eyes & ears. Lunch took place in a very remote farm turned into design heaven with locally grass-fed beef grilled on fire, served with the local treat called "aligot". It was then time to explore the wilderness plateau of Aubrac, one of the most sparsely populated areas of Western Europe and an absolute dream for nature lovers. Yet, rain turned into snow (!) and it took hours to drive towards Le Chambon sur Le Lignon under rain and more snow for the last ones. Pierre, the owner of the superb restaurant "Chez Marcel" in Paris welcomed us in his family heaven, an old farm transformed into a festive heaven with a "babyfoot", good music, great food and lots of drinks... A night to remember. Another short night of sleep was awaiting all of us as we had a third stage to come!

With 463 km a day over three days in remote countryside and in the mountains, the program of our annual March run was pretty ambitious. After bumping into friends in Retromobile, a record of 27 teams were immediately IN, with a great mix of cars from the 1953 Aston Martin DB2 to many Jags along with 70s icons such as the Lotus Esprit or the mighty de Tomaso Pantera and a few 80s cars. After a great dinner in Charolles in the South of Burgundy, day 1 started by getting South through superb empty countryside roads. The run then ventured into the heart of Auvergne, an area known for its wild landscape and small mountainous twisting roads in the woods. Lunch was followed by a long afternoon of driving in the most remote part of France you can think about, la Lozere. The landscape is absolutely stunning there, think of Scotland & Ireland and you get the idea. The weather was actually very Scottish with rain and cold, followed by storms. The visit of the oldest jeans factory in France called at the end of the day had to be shortened as we had another two hour-drive within the Cevennes in tiny mountains roads. A few cars had almost no lights or wipers, some faced mechanical hazards and the drive was just insane, with heavy rain, thousands of bends, small bridges, tree branches on the road, night & fog... The arrival in Les Vans, a small old village filled with great restaurants was a big relief and gave birth to quite a party at with oysters & grapefruit, local cured ham, slowly cooked lamb and many bottles of red. A short good night sleep was de rigueur before the second day... A suivre!

Paris couture week for cars starts tomorrow✨ What to expect? A cold yet sunny week with like-minded enthusiasts coming from all over the World, cars coming to the light after years spent in private collections, (too many) late dinners, auctions in city landmarks, club laid-back aperos with saucisson & vin rouge de rigueur, British friends asking you what is the best club in town (these days are over, no clue, sorry 🤣) and much more… This is week💥 A demain!

The bi-annual gathering called « La Traversée de Paris » happened this morning & it stood up to its reputation with a great mix of cars invading Paris streets from prewar Bugattis to recent supercars, without forgetting the tractors, old buses & popular French cars from the 50s & 60s. The police was quite strict on the no parking policy, yet in a friendly way with a smile, it was a huge mess & the best way to meet old friends, make new ones and see all kinds of cars. A good warm-up before Retromobile !

• Prewar cars are not dead! Yesterday a new informal event, La Nocturne parisienne, saw a bunch of young enthusiasts (& a few older ones) from different countries gathering for dinner before driving through Paris. It was past 3AM when the first car reached Montmartre. It would have been faster in a taxi ! Oui! Mais… it would have not offered this unique feeling of living a true adventure, with loud exhaust & engine sounds, smells, stopovers for mulled wine, a flat tyre, pictures & mechanical hazards. There might be a generation gap in the car world but prewar cars are a world apart, it is a vast community with events every weekend, solidarity when one breaks down, dynamic clubs, passion shared between all generations etc… Paris est une fête, all the more in a prewar car at night! Congrats to & for this premiere 🥂

• If you were a car enthusiast or a French teenager in the 90s, you for sure had a crush on Venturi cars. It was first call MVS Venturi, MVS standing for Manufacture de Voitures de Sports and was powered by the V6 PRV. The car was both stylish & fast, with parts coming from the Renault Fuego (windscreen), Citroën CX (the mirrors), BMW series 3 (rear lights), etc… Born as a narrow body two seater coupe, it gave birth to a convertible, called Transcup, with a fixed retractable roof. It then got wild with the Venturi Trophy, nicknamed the French F40. These race cars, mostly driven by French successful entrepreneurs, were fighting against each on a series of races sponsored by Cartier. Some became road legal, while the 400GT was launched as a more confortable street version of the Trophy. The car got even wilder with the 600LM which was raced in Le Mans 24. Add the 280SPC which was a lightweight non cat version of the normal car & the 300 Atlantique, a redesigned version launched when the brand was unfortunately in bad shape, and you get a better vision of a niche brand that made a whole country proud. Unfortunately this adventure came to an end. Gerard Godfroy & Claude Poiraud who gave birth to this fabulous car have recently launched the DS Grand Palais, a handmade stylish DS Coupe. Seeing all these cars in Place de la Concorde today was a great sight!
