A good chair first. A folding chair second.

That distinction is the entire design brief behind the Backflip Chair by Gudmundur Ludvik for HAY. The mechanism that allows it to fold is concealed entirely within the backrest, invisible until needed, engaged by a single rotation that collapses the chair in one continuous motion. Solid wood, moulded plywood backrest, natural beech in a range of coloured finishes. A matching wall bracket holds one or two folded chairs cleanly on any wall.

Ludvik spent years wanting to resolve the inherent conflict of the folding chair, where functionality has historically come at the expense of comfort, aesthetics, or both. Backflip is his answer. It does not feel like secondary seating. It does not look like a compromise. It simply folds when you need it to and sits well when you do not.

Previewed at 3 Days of Design, Copenhagen. Available from August.

The legs are rounded. The backrest curves continuously. The construction is straightforward. LOG does not need anything else.

Designed by for .dk , LOG draws from vernacular log furniture and the clarity of twentieth-century modernist design, distilling both into a contemporary chair with a strong graphic presence. A small family of wooden components, robustly joined, celebrating what wood does well when it is not asked to do too much. The seat is interchangeable: painted wood, upholstery, or woven materials, each combination a distinct expression of the same clear identity.

This Warsaw apartment redesign by Klaudia of .studio feels both measured and magnetic. Geometry adds rhythm, a second-hand purple sofa creates softness, and original parquet grounds it all.

Shapes repeat with purpose, with squares, circles, and light working in quiet unison.
Each detail is a calm decision. Each material is a respectful nod to the past.
