“Remixes In Reverse”, now on YouTube, SoundCloud and Bandcamp, is a new batch of remixes with the process done in reverse: instead of applying acid house, synthpop or disco wrapping to tunes from Egypt and Lebanon, here are 4 songs in English to which typical Lebanese, Egyptian and Nubian instrumentation was placed around, in front of and underneath.
Track listing:
1) Public Image Limited – Warrior
2) Kim Petras – Treat Me Like A Slut
3) Carol Hitchcock – Get Ready
4) Everything But The Girl – Missing
“Warrior” is an anti-war song recorded some 35 years ago by a future fascist.
“Treat Me Like A Slut” is a pornographic song by the youngest legally transgender person.
“Get Ready” is a dance track from days of the reign of Stock/Aitken/Waterman on the charts.
“Missing” is possibly the most heartbreaking club track ever committed.
Other samples include Hamid el Shaeri, Romeo Lahoud, Mohamed Jamal, Ziad Rahbani and Amr Diab, with additional production recorded on tape.
