I realized recently that some of y’all probably don’t know that I have been wearing glasses since I was in the 5th grade! Surpriiiise lol

These were kindly gifted to me by ! A little about them: They’re based in Flint, Michigan where they make these glasses out of repurposed plastic from water bottles- Their mission is to create jobs for displaced workers in Flint by manufacturing all of their eyewear in the city, and reduce localized plastic waste by using materials that would otherwise go to landfills or be sold off to corporations who have benefited from the water crisis that started in 2014 (and is STILL going on btw). They also buy back their frames when you’re done with them to be resold at a discount, repurposed, or donated to those in need! Genusee donates 1% of their profits to Community Fund of Greater Flint, who in turn splits the donations to two separate organizations that address children’s health and education!

we love a cute pair of frames that doesn’t require virgin plastics and supports their community through circular economic efforts!! 💚

Loti is a Latina owned brand that repurposes materials that would otherwise go to landfills. They ethically produce their garments in small batches in Lima, Peru, and they work directly with the seamstresses and screen printers!

2 posts in one day? yes bc this new pattern is so good. also yes I have hyperpigmentation on my underarms. I’ve always been so embarrassed by the thought of anyone finding it gross that I’ve always just not worn sleeveless tops. But it’s just what they look like. And like.. I don’t want to bleach my skin. So I guess I just have to accept them. And that’s ok. At least I have nice eyebrows! Lol

Left my apartment this morning a fully vaccinated human adult. It’s such a weird and relieving and privileged thing to be able to say- I’m fully vaccinated, I’m in less danger to die of covid, I’m less of a danger to my family, my partner, my coworkers, my friends, and the general public.

I can’t help but think about the half a million people who died of covid throughout the course of the last year- I can’t help but think about their families, their friends, all of the life events they won’t get to experience, all of the deaths that could have been avoided had our governments (federal and local) spent less time trying to convince us that Covid wasn’t a big deal and more time making sure so many people didn’t die.
I didn’t mean for this caption to take such a dark turn but the truth is that although we’ve had memes and tik toks to get us through this scary era of history- it’s been a devastating year for so many people and I think it’s important to take a second and reflect on how lucky I have been to continue to have my job, my health, my family, and most importantly, my life.

a reminder to myself and anyone else who needs to hear this: not having a chiseled jaw and long ass neck does NOT make me ugly!! The idea of round/wide faces being “ugly” is rooted in fatphobia + white supremacy- my wide features are a gift passed down from many generations of indigenous Mexican women before me and I honor them by accepting and loving my features.

The weather has been extra extra gloomy lately so I’m being my own sunshine in this beautiful papaya linen dress from the new collection that dropped this week!

It sounds really dumb but dressing up in something really bright and cheery really does lift my spirits- proof that clothes can be more than just things we put on our bodies. I love adding pieces like this to my wardrobe because Drea even just 5 years ago would have never thought she could pull something like this off and yet here I am, proving myself wrong!

An outfit combo I never thought I could feel confident wearing or posting; crop tops, shorts, and sandals! Separately these pieces are all anxiety triggering for me yet when I put all of these pieces together I felt instantly so cute and confident????? Brains are so weird! Lol
