There isn't a prize for having the most complicated AI setup.
If ChatGPT saves you hours every week, brilliant.
If you mainly use it to help you think something through, also brilliant.
If you have automations running half your business, great.

But if you prefer to keep most things manual and use AI only where YOU feel it helps, that's fine too.
Find the setup that works for your business, your clients and the way you actually like to work.

And if somebody else's supposedly *perfect* workflow makes your life harder - you are allowed to ignore it. 😁

The more capable AI becomes, the easier it is to think we should be handing over more and more of the work.
But somebody still needs to decide whether the result is actually any good, and that somebody is YOU.
AI can draft, organise, analyse and automate an *extraordinary* amount.
But AI doesn't know your business the way YOU do, and it doesn't know when something feels slightly off.
Use the technology, but just don't disappear from the process.

Here's something you don't hear very often about AI:

Sometimes the boring option is perfectly good.
You don't necessarily need another app or integration.

You don't necessarily need a complicated workflow involving six different tools talking to each other while you cross your fingers and hope none of them fall over.

Sometimes a simple process that you *understand and can control* is exactly what your business needs.

Boring can be remarkably efficient. 😎

Sometimes I wonder whether we're just spending 45 minutes building an AI workflow to avoid a five-minute job. 😂

Automation can be brilliant when something is repetitive, time-consuming or happening often enough to justify setting it up, but not *every* task needs a system.

Before I automate something, I want to know if it will save meaningful time, reduce mistakes, or make something genuinely easier?
.. Or have I accidentally created another thing that needs managing?

If your clever new system has become another member of staff requiring constant supervision, we may need to have a word. 😁

There are things in my business that I am very happy to hand over to technology, and there are other things where I want to stay firmly in the loop.

Automation is a tool. YOU get to decide where it earns a place in your business.

I keep seeing AI workflows that apparently EVERY business should be using.

Except businesses aren't all the same, and neither are the people running them.

A workflow that saves one person three hours might add six new steps and a small sacrifice to the technology gods for somebody else. 😂

So before you adopt somebody else's wonderful AI system, ask yourself a much simpler question: Does this actually make MY business easier?

Use the tools that fit the way you work, rather than trying to squeeze your business into somebody else's favourite workflow.

There are an awful lot of AI tools promising to save us time, and sometimes they do. But we shouldn't assume that faster automatically means better.

If connecting another tool, automating another process or handing over another part of your business means giving up control you actually want to keep, the few minutes you save might not be worth it.

Efficiency and control are useful too. And occasionally, doing something *manually* is not evidence that you've failed at AI. 😁
