On our last trip to the Costa Blanca area we had an incredible time exploring Elche with our friends Gary and Teresa. It’s the 3rd largest city in the Valencia community and is an authentic, traditional Spanish city less than 20 minutes from Alicante Airport and many beautiful, Blue Flag beaches.

Teresa actually grew up in Elche and is the 6th generation of her family’s olive oil business. We were lucky enough to be there during harvest season, so she took us to see the factory in action! They also spent the day showing us around their city, and we quickly fell in love with the pedestrian-only historic center and the peaceful paths through El Palmeral (Palm Grove) of Elche. The palm grove surrounds the city and is the largest in Europe, with walking trails, little waterfalls, wildlife, and lots of shady spots to enjoy the afternoon.

Yes… we could definitely see ourselves living here. 🌴

We released a full YT video exploring the city, the famous palm grove, the olive oil factory, beaches nearby, cost of living, and what it’s really like to live there.

If you’re considering the Costa Blanca, Gary is our real estate partner who helps people find their next home, and Teresa created Unpack Spain, helping people decide if the area might be the right fit and connecting newcomers with local resources to help them settle in. We share their info in our YT video and description.

Sleeping in a real trullo house during our stay in Puglia was quite the experience! These conical-roof stone houses are an iconic part of the Itria Valley and we were fascinated by them and their history. Alberobello has the highest concentration of them and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We e-biked from Alberobello to Locorotondo. It's a beautiful village and the views of the Itria Valley on the way there, dotted with traditional trulli farmhouses was incredible.
On our way further south to Lecce, we stopped by the town of Ostuni, the famous white city. Seeing this hilltop town from afar glowing white was stunning.  We also caught a glimpse of Rocca Giulia Castle, that we later found out can be rented for vacations.
Lecce surprised us with it's intricately detailed Baroque architecture. Many of the buildings were built with Leccese stone, a soft workable limestone that glints gold and cream in the sunlight. We saw the remains of a Roman amphitheater from the 1st century BC. It's a 25,000 seat theatre discovered in the early 1900s with only a portion of it visible since it would disrupt the streets and shops if they fully uncovered it.
And of course we couldn't leave Italy without making pasta. We had a wonderful experience at the home of a local couple where we joined a group of people from all over the world to learn how to make the orecchiette (little ear) pasta, We cooked, shared stories, drank delicious Apulian wine, and finished the night with homemade limoncello, the best we’ve ever had.
🎥 We share the full experience in our Puglia, Italy Part 2 YT video exploring Alberobello, Locorotondo, Ostuni & Lecce.

Before beginning our exploration of Puglia, we took a side trip to Matera… and WOW — it blew us away! 🤯

Matera is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world with cave homes that are over 9,000 years old.  The history is incredible and we share more of this unforgettable stop in our Puglia, Italy Part 1 video now live on our channel.

Spoiler alert, Bari, the capital of Puglia did not capture our hearts but many of the smaller towns in Puglia absolutely surprised us. Starting with Polignano a Mare where we took a boat tour to explore the caves along the dramatic Adriatic coastline and see the infamous beach, Lama Monachile set between two magnificent, rocky cliffs. One of the highlights of our  trip was...SURPRISE...a wine tasting experience at Terre di San Vito Estate.  🥂

This beautiful, family-run winery produces incredible wines and olive oil. After touring the estate surrounded by vineyards, ancient olive groves, and even the cutest donkeys, we sat down for a tasting that turned into a full farm-to-table feast paired with 5 of their amazing wines.

We'll be sharing more of Puglia in Part 2 where we visit Alberobello, Locorotondo, Ostuni and Lecce...coming soon!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas with a visit from Devan and Marisa. 🎄 We started in Lisbon with a basket of Marisa’s custom treats from . She even made special cookies for Che and Buddy and surprised us with a perfect little version of our Seeking Paradise Bugs logo! We wandered the Christmas markets, stopped for chocolate cake at Landeau in LX Factory and got a pic on Pink St.

Then we hopped over to London for a few days and saw Big Ben and Tower Bridge. We squeezed in Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park, a Christmas lights walk by the Royal Arcade, Fortnum & Mason and Bond St plus afternoon tea at Lanes of London with bottomless bubbles and the cutest desserts.

We wrapped it all up with the ABBA Voyage show and Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. A perfect start to the holiday season sharing special moments with family! 🎁

Thanks so much for all your lovely comments on Youtube! Benidorm really surprised us!

Like many people, we’d only heard the stereotypes: British party capital, high-rises everywhere, and a crazy nightlife. That scene isn’t really our thing… but we came with an open mind.

The truth? Just a few steps away from the busy strip, we discovered a completely different Benidorm. Beautiful beach promenades, quiet neighborhoods and golden beaches with crystal-clear water.

And, it’s the perfect base to explore Costa Blanca from Altea’s whitewashed streets to Calpe’s iconic Peñón de Ifach, Albir’s lighthouse walk, and Villajoyosa’s rainbow-colored waterfront.

So whether you’re thinking about retiring abroad, working remotely, or just planning your next Mediterranean getaway… don’t write off Benidorm just yet. There’s way more here than meets the eye.
