Marriage comes with responsibilities, and for me, respect is very important. My husband is very supportive, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable if the roles were reversed. That’s why I decided to stop k!ssing in movies.

Also, my children are growing up, and they will watch my movies. I want to set a good example for them. There are many ways to show love in films without being too intimate.

"When I told my wife I wanted to marry her, I gave it to her straight. No lies. No fake promises. I said I don’t have it all. I don’t have a mountain of money or a mapped-out plan. What I have is faith. What I have is belief that if I knock hard enough, doors will open.

And she didn’t walk away. That’s what struck me. She didn’t flinch. But she stayed. She listened. She said yes.

“Sometimes, love really does find you when you are no longer searching. My love story feels like such, I wasn’t even interested in talking to anyone, but love found me when I least expected it.” ~ Sharon Ooja

I had just come out of what felt like the worst heartbreak of my life. I was filming, trying to stay focused and heal. Then my sister told me her friend wanted to speak with me. Honestly, I wasn’t in the mood for anyone. My heart wasn’t ready.

But somehow, he got my number. He didn’t stop reaching out, gently, sweetly. We started talking. Just talking. And it felt safe. I remember one day, we spoke for three hours. That’s when I knew something was changing in me.

Two and a half months later, we got engaged. By the third month, we were married. Love showed up when I had stopped looking.

"I think my success as an actress came from outside in. I knew about people's appreciation of me through emails I received from foreigners and people living outside Nigeria.

Initially, Nollywood movies were in Yoruba and Igbo languages, and we thought that by producing films in these languages, we had reached a broad audience, assuming Yoruba people would watch Igbo movies and vice versa.

However, I suggested we switch to English so that everyone could understand and watch. At the time, nobody was thinking about reaching audiences outside Africa, but when we made this shift, it really boosted my acting career."
