Network Rail Closes Ash Footbridge Citing “Risk of Falling Through”

A pedestrian footbridge linking the Wi******er Road and Old school Close has been closed by Network Rail following safety concerns. A notice displayed on the structure states: "FOOTBRIDGE CLOSED AHEAD RISK OF FALLING THROUGH" The notice carries Network Rail branding and has been erected behind temporary fencing blocking access to the bridge. The footbridge spans the railway line and provides a pedestrian connection between the two residential areas....

Network Rail has closed the footbridge between Wi******er Road and Old School Close in Ash, citing a "risk of falling through" and providing no reopening date.

New Ash Green Village Sign

Ash Green has a striking new landmark, with the official installation of a new village welcome sign. Located at the crossroads of Ash Green Lane East and White Lane, adjacent to the Ash Parish Council noticeboard, the sign provides a warm welcome to residents and visitors while celebrating the identity, heritage and community spirit of Ash Green. The project was delivered by Ash Parish Council (APC).

The new Ash Green Village Sign has been unveiled at Ash Green Lane East and White Lane, celebrating local identity through a community-led project.

One of Hampshire's most popular community events is back this autumn as the 7th Odiham Raft Race takes place on Sunday 6 September 2026 at Odiham Wharf on the beautiful Basingstoke Canal. Ash Museum Welcomes the Strange Old Things Mobile Museum

Ash Museum has told Ash Parish News that it is delighted to welcome the Strange Old Things Mobile Museum and its fascinating Conflict Collection on Sunday 19 July 2026 (2 pm - 4.30 pm). This unique hands-on exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to get up close to genuine historical artefacts from both World Wars. Unlike many museum displays, visitors will be able to handle and examine a range of authentic items while learning about their history and the stories behind them....

Handle genuine uniforms, medals, letters and wartime artefacts from both World Wars at the Strange Old Things Mobile Museum's Conflict Collection, hosted by Ash Museum on 19 July 2026.
