Door entry panels. Gate intercoms. Barrier phones at the yard entrance.

A lot of them dial out over a phone line, especially on industrial estates and older office buildings where the system was put in fifteen years ago and has never given anyone a moment's trouble since.

On 1st February, "never given anyone a moment's trouble" becomes "nobody can get in the gate".

34 years ago, Fiona walked through the doors of DF Communications and started her career in sales. She loved it from the very first day and thankfully for us, she never left!

Since then, she’s taken on many roles before eventually becoming Managing Director, following in the footsteps of her dad, Dick Fleming, who founded the company and whose name we still proudly carry today.

From father to daughter, the Fleming family has been at the heart of DF Communications for decades. While plenty has changed since 1992, one thing hasn’t: we’ve always been proudly based in Aberdeen.

We’re proud to have grown alongside the city, supporting local businesses and customers for more than four decades with Fiona playing a huge part in that journey.

Less than 180 days. That's how long UK businesses have left before the PSTN (the copper phone network that's carried our calls for over a century) is switched off for good.

Openreach reckons around 350,000 business premises still haven't migrated.

Some businesses know it, but a lot of them don't, because the line in question isn't just a phone line. It can be a lift alarm, a card machine, a fire panel, a door entry system... the list goes on.

Over the next six months we're going to be posting a lot about this to make sure nobody in the north-east gets caught out by a deadline they didn't know applied to them.
