Recent data show that average house prices in the North East region are dropping! ⬇️

According to the Office for National Statistics the average house price in Aberdeen was around £141,000 in August 2025, which is a fall of 4.3% from August 2024.

For first-time buyers in the area, the average price paid fell to £119,000 in August 2025, down from about £125,000 a year earlier.

The drop is being linked to various factors including local economic shifts, changes in demand and housing supply.

While a falling market can raise concerns for sellers, it also presents opportunities for buyers or people thinking of entering the housing market in this region.

Aberdeen City Council has moved a step closer on a joint bid to host the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) from 2027. The local authority gave the green light for an agreement with Motorsport UK which will allow it to submit an application to host the event in the city and surrounding area.

The event's operational hub would likely be at the P&J Live arena in Aberdeen, with rally stages held across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and Moray.

The bid is for an event starting in the 2027 season. The 2025 WRC calendar is already confirmed and does not include the UK.

Aberdeen will bid to host the Tall Ships Races again, after the success of the event in the city this year.
Nearly half a million people attended in July, with the economic benefit put at more than 30m.

The city will now bid to host the event again as early as 2030.
An evaluation report, and intention to bid, put to the local authority's finance and resources committee was agreed.
