One Dream, a pandemic and a very unexpected turn
It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I announce the impending closure of the BeautyBooker platforms. All our sites will be taken offline as of the 30th of April 2022.
This is something I was convinced I could avoid. However, I didn’t expect it would be my own health that would bring a stop to everything.
… Damn Long Covid and every diagnosis it has brought with it!
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has helped and supported BeautyBooker to grow over the years. Every booking, every follow and every like has been the making of BeautyBooker. You made my idea truly come to life, and it has been a privilege to be in the driver’s seat.
Thank you to everyone that helped with our campaigns to keep the Scottish hair & beauty industry at the forefront throughout the pandemic and to the wonderful RGU students who completed their placements with us.
Most of all I want to say thank you to the Aberdeen Business Community who welcomed me with open arms 4 years ago. I have experienced nothing but kindness, encouragement, and support from you all.
To those who opened doors for me, I will be forever grateful. Thank you.
Once I’m back to full health, I hope to help Scottish start-ups but, in the meantime, I will be doing what I can behind the scenes to raise awareness of Long Covid and the devastating impact it is having to so many lives across the globe.
Therefore, my last note is to all employers, please do all that you can to support your staff that may be struggling with their health just now. This is simply not just a respiratory disease, flu or cold.
Most will recover from the acute infection, but recent statistics are showing that up to 30% of people go on to have relapsing and remitting symptoms. This can affect your mobility, your oxygen rate, heart rate, high inflammation levels throughout your body, trigger autoimmune disease and at worst leave lasting damage.
The effects are devastating, and I know this because I have and am suffering the very real consequences of being initially infected in March 2020.
We must find a cure and more so robust prevention's.
Take Care and sending you all my love.
Kate
The Hair & Beauty Scotland Covid 19 Support group will remain, and I will continue to be there for any future public announcements affecting the Hair & Beauty industry.
