Collector, seller & lover of all things antique/vintage but especially Welsh blankets & Welsh tapestry coats, purses, bags etc. I also commission limited edition Welsh blankets from a small West Wales mill. Doing lots of Christmas shopping in the Artisan Craft Market before opening the shop this morning & I'm probably going to spend more money than I take!!!

Lovely event in Abergavenny Market run by the lovely Emma of Artisan Events Wales. So lovely to meet up with makers especially my good friend & customer Jayne of Blodau A***n . She makes amazing silver jewellery & I'm trying to decide on which of her 'Welsh Mountain' necklace collection to buy - shall I go for Sugarloaf, Blorenge, Skirrid or Penyfan? Such a dilemma!

I've bought some gorgeous framed limited edition prints from the super talented local artist Louise Collis - Artist but I can't let on which scenes I bought as it's a surprise! Ssshhhhh ❤️

Crazy day here in Abergavenny for Saturday's Market. Super grateful to you all once again. I've been digging around in my storage units & finding vintage Welsh wool tapestry coats & capes that I'd actually forgotten I had! The teal coat & the monochrome cape are my favourites today. It's been a bit chilly so I'm wrapped up in loads of layers. Welsh wool & colour coordinated of course!

Don't forget I'm open again tomorrow (Sunday) for the Artisan Craft Market. A lovely independent event with some very talented artists & makers. Open 10 til 4.

The ARTISAN MARKET is an independent event at the market hall in Abergavenny organised by the wonderful Emma of Artisan Events Wales & runs from 10 til 4

Lots of you asking about the cape I was wearing in yesterday's video so I thought I'd share a little bit about it. This is a 1960's Vintage Welsh tapestry wool cape with side opening buttons known as a Dr. Kildare neck. It's the pattern that is special. The 'tulip' design was only ever made at Brynkir Woollen Mill in North Wales. Sadly this mill is also now gone. Not sure how I'm going to part with it but as ever I've added a link in the comments/story/bio. One of my favourites 🌷 🌷 🌷

It's been such a busy day here in Abergavenny for our Tuesday General Market that I haven't had chance to post until the end of the day! This beautiful vintage Welsh wool tapestry blanket in red, white & black has just arrived - the Welsh Lady's colours! 'WHAT IS THAT'? This was the No.1 question I was asked recently when I did a stall at The National Woollen Museum. There were lots of visitors from America, Germany & The Netherlands who had never seen these vintage Welsh wool Honeycomb blankets before.

The honeycomb or 'waffle' weave was a popular traditional design in Welsh mills. The weave produces a deep, square, waffle-like texture that traps pockets of air, creating a natural thermal effect. They were especially popular in the post-war years (1945-1960) and are considered a traditional Welsh textile icon. I've found lots of colours over the years & I still have my late Grandmother's - pale blue on one side & lemon on the other. A treasured heirloom.

And I thought it was going to be a quiet uneventful day in the market after the flooding in Abergavenny yesterday! But our wonderful customers had other ideas & came out in droves. Thanks to everyone that popped in today. Super grateful to every one of you. Lovely to see so many people gathering ready for 'The Christmas Lights Switch On' in town this evening & The Rock Choir sounded fantastic up on the balcony.

My day was topped off by a visit & a cwtch from Santa - perfect! Tracey 🎅

PS. My thoughts are with all the locals & neighbouring businesses affected by the floods. Also to everyone in nearby Monmouth. Stay safe.

So I'm braving the weather here in Abergavenny for Friday's General Market. Got caught up behind a lorry that caught fire on the Raglan Road but finally made it! I'll be here today & Saturday.
