๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’š Looks like DJ Annabelle found the Makina section!

JGS & Intentโ€™s feature in Issue #001 has been getting plenty of love, and we canโ€™t blame her. Real roots, real energy, and keeping Makina alive for a new generation. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Big thanks to Annabelle for sending in the snap and showing us exactly what Rave Monkey is all about, sitting down, having a read and supporting the scene.

Weโ€™ve loved seeing where Issue #001 has ended up, and with only a few copies remaining before Issue #002 drops early next month, these photos mean the world to us. โค๏ธ

Keep them coming, ravers!

Yesterdayโ€™s cancellation of Defqon.1 has left the hard dance community in shock.

The decision was made after Dutch authorities issued an unprecedented Code Red weather warning, with extreme heat creating serious safety concerns for the tens of thousands of people attending the festival. While many fans were understandably devastated, the safety of festivalgoers had to come first.

Since the announcement, social media has been flooded with videos showing small groups of attendees pulling down temporary fencing and reports of antisocial behaviour as emotions boiled over. Some posts have gone as far as claiming there were โ€œriotsโ€.

At the time of writing, however, there appears to be no official confirmation that widespread rioting took place. While there were clearly isolated incidents and frustration among some festivalgoers, the term โ€œriotโ€ seems to be an exaggeration based on the information currently available.

For many people, Defqon.1 is the highlight of their year. Thousands had travelled from across Europe and beyond, invested huge amounts of money, and were understandably heartbroken to see the event cancelled after arriving on site.

We hope everyone affected by the cancellation gets home safely and that those who have travelled so far receive the support they need over the coming days. Our thoughts are with the fans, artists, crew, organisers and emergency services who found themselves in an incredibly difficult situation.

๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ“– Before Facebook. Before Instagram. Before algorithms. There was Ravin Eye magazine

Long before social media feeds took over, Ravin Eye was the magazine every Hardcore raver wanted to get their hands on. Built by ravers, for ravers, it became part of the culture itself.

As Rave Monkey begins its own journey, we felt it was only right to pay respect to the people who helped pave the way.

We sat down with founders Charlie and James to talk about pirate tape packs, photocopied newsletters, flyering in car parks, Hardcore Heaven awards and the incredible 13-year journey that made Ravin Eye a legend of the scene.

โค๏ธ This isn't just an interview. It's a piece of Hardcore history.

๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ”ฅ 16 years old. One mic. A big future ahead.

Some artists spend years trying to find their voice. G-Wez is already making his mark.

Growing up surrounded by rave music, stepping onto the mic always felt inevitable. Now he's building a name for himself with the energy, confidence and hunger to carve out his own place in the scene.

We caught up with G-Wez to talk about finding his style, dealing with the pressure of coming into the scene at such a young age, his biggest influences and where he wants the journey to take him.

This isn't just another interview. It's the story of the next generation stepping up.

๐Ÿšจ Who's killing the dancefloor?

Another grassroots venue is disappearing, and it isn't an isolated story.

Across the UK, clubs and late-night spaces are vanishing. Not because people have stopped raving, but because the places that give scenes room to grow are being priced out.

For promoters, DJs and ravers, losing venues means losing far more than four walls and a sound system.

This one hits close to home.
