🎞️Diwrnod Agored - Open Day 🎞️

Yn gynharach yr wythnos hon, cynhaliodd timau Digido a Churadurol yr Archif Sgrin a Sain y cyntaf o ddau ddiwrnod agored fel rhan o brosiect Sgiliau Ffilm ar gyfer y Dyfodol, a gefnogir gan y British Film Institute a'r Loteri Genedlaethol.

Nod y prosiect yw meithrin gwydnwch o fewn y tîm digido a datblygu gweithlu mwy hyblyg, medrus ac addasadwy, yn barod i fynd i'r afael ag ystod eang o heriau cadwraeth clyweledol. Bwriad y diwrnodau agored yw ehangu effaith y prosiect y tu hwnt i'r archif, ac ein helpu i groesawu pobl newydd i ddarganfod y gwaith arbenigol ein timau.

Roedd y diwrnod agored cyntaf yn cynnwys cymysgedd o sgyrsiau, teithiau tywys o amgylch y bloc technegol clyweledol, a sesiynau ymarferol i fynychwyr, ac roedd ymateb gwych gan bawb a fynychodd!

Cynhelir yr ail ddiwrnod agored yn y Gwanwyn y flwyddyn nesaf, gyda ffocws ar weithwyr proffesiynol sy'n gweithio yn y sector treftadaeth Cymru. Cadwch lygad allan am fanylion!

Earlier this week, the Screen and Sound Archive's Digitisation and Curatorial teams hosted the first of two open days as part of the Film Skills for the Future project, supported by the British Film Institute and the National Lottery.

The project’s aim is to build resilience within the digitisation team and develop a more agile, skilled, and adaptable workforce, ready to tackle a wide range of audio-visual preservation challenges. The open days serve to broaden the project’s impact beyond the archive, and help us welcome new people to discover the specialist work carried out by our teams.

The first open day featured a mix of talks, guided tours of the audio-visual technical block, and hands-on sessions for attendees, and had a great response from all who attending!

The second open day will take place in Spring next year, with a focus on professionals working in the Welsh heritage sector. Keep an eye out for details!

You can now access BFI Replay in our libraries and on December 3rd the British Film Institute and the National Library of Wales Sound and Screen Archive are holding a special event in Risca Library – which used to be a cinema! This will include showing the short film Blue Kenny which was filmed in, and around, Oakdale Comprehensive School.

Nawr yn cael ei dangos yn ystafell Peniarth, Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru mae The Song We Sing Is About Freedom (Paulus Alajos, 1975,17m).

Yn ei phen-blwydd yn 50 oed, mae'r ffilm yn dilyn ymweliadau cyfnewid rhwng Côr y Brythoniaid, côr meibion o Flaenau Ffestiniog, a Chôr Meibion Zoltan Kodaly o Ffatri United Incandescent Lamp and Electrical Co. Ltd. yn Tungsram, ger Budapest, Hwngari, mewn ymgais i wneud cysylltiadau a rhannu ewyllys da, er gwaethaf sefyllfa wleidyddol y Rhyfel Oer.

Mae'r ffilm galonogol hon, sy'n cyrraedd uchafbwynt gyda pherfformiad gan y corau wedi’u cyfuno o'r gân Hwngaraidd mae teitl y ffilm yn deillio ohono, yn datgelu dynoliaeth a rennir, waeth beth fo'r gwahaniaethau.

Now showing in the National Library of Wales Peniarth room is The Song We Sing Is About Freedom (Paulus Alajos,1975, 17m).

In its 50th anniversary year, the film follows exchange visits between Côr y Brythoniaid, a male voice choir from Blaenau Ffestiniog, and The Zoltan Kodaly Male Voice Choir from the United Incandescent Lamp and Electrical Co. Ltd. Factory in Tungsram, near Budapest, Hungary, in a bid to make connections and share goodwill, despite the political situation of the Cold War.

This uplifting film, culminating in a performance of the titular Hunga***n song by the combined choirs, reveals a shared humanity, regardless of differences.
