Just back from seeing this very moving and beautifully crafted documentary about composer F***y Mendelssohn Hensel, made by her great great great granddaughter Sheila Hayman. I’d thoroughly recommend it.

An unexpected frosted and foggy morning at Lake Bohinj, Slovenia. The plan was for the sunrise, but this is what I've gotten. In fact, I think I like this atmospheric moody feel more than the typical sunrise colors.

We like creating films that change lives, and this week we were working with our friends at HR Wallingford to encourage more girls to consider a career in engineering. HR Wallingford organised an open day for female students from the local school to celebrate this year's International Women in Engineering Day. It gave them a chance to come in, have a look at the facilities, pilot a container tug, and generally discover what engineering is all about. More importantly they could meet and chat to a whole bunch of amazing female engineers. There are so many pressures on girls to conform to other people's stereotypes so it was wonderful to see them discover a whole world of opportunities they didn't even know existed. Read more here - and see how the girls reacted in our film. I wonder what these young women will be doing in 10 years time?

For International Women in Engineering Day 2023 we invited around 30 girls from our local school to meet our inspirational women and tour our state-of-the-art facilities.

4 years ago my then Assistant Producer Lizzie and I set off on a mini adventure, to the far north west of Scotland. The result was a little film about a tiny community and a huge character. Chris Main, who hosted us and cooked for us and introduced us to this fabulous place, died this week from cancer. He was wonderful fun and I feel absolutely shocked and so sad at this news. Chris really lived life to the full. He was irrepressible and hilarious and full of energy. I spoke yesterday to one of his friends and she told me he gave life everything he had right to the end.
This is another horrible reminder that life is short. Don’t put stuff off, because you just don’t know what’s around the next bend. RIP, Commander Main.

My business, Nice Tree Films, makes corporate video - we work with all kinds of organisations - some very large and some very tiny. All these organisations have been affected by Covid - our NHS clients are obviously at the very sharpest end, trying to arrange massive reorganisations of facilities an

Glad things have moved on a bit!

Back in the days when there was no drones and no gimbals, Dare devil Aerial Cinematographer Johnny Jordan used this technique to film 007 ski action sequence in 1967.

While filming You Only Live Twice (1967), Johnny was leaning out of a helicopter to get a better shot. Another helicopter was caught in a gust of wind and was blown closer. The rotor blade cut Johnny's leg which had to be amputated. Three years later, he was filming Catch-22 (1970) over the Gulf of Mexico when another plane passed close by. He was sucked out of the open doorway and fell 2,000 feet to his death. He had always refused to wear a safety harness and with his artificial leg wasn't as agile as he used to be.

He developed a special helicopter harness for filming aerial shots of the mountain slopes and action sequences in the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969). He would hang eighteen feet below the chopper from a large round metal support apparatus. Follow and tag to have a chance to be featured
