When two lovely chaps turn up at your house, armed with four *top secret* studio tapes by their hero. They'd spent hundreds in an auction. One of these gents had flown in from Denmark! 😲

We had some wonderful news this week. The innovative chair-based exercise programme for older people "Healthy4Longer" which we filmed in partnership with care charity in London, has been awarded the "High Commendation" at the National Home Care Awards! We've just completed the baking, restoring and digitising of five incredible tapes for LEO Récords, the original masters for two albums recorded in Russia in the mid-to-late 1980s. No one has played these tapes for 40 years.

The band, Arkhangelsk (Архангельск)were an experimental "Free Jazz" sextet, and these amazing recordings have been perfectly preserved, and hopefully to be re-released soon on CD and/or vinyl. It's such an honour to work on precious artefacts like this. Here's a brief taster:

Morning everyone. Rob at OrFactor Productions and I have just come back from two days filming in a very pretty corner of Essex, near Maldon. We were working with master craftsman Kitchens, interviewing three of his customers in their stunning homes.

One of them, apart from being the proud owner of a stunning kitchen himself, is a member of a "rival" Beach Boys tribute band! Small world, eh?

Wow. Songwriter Barry Booth's early demo of "He's Very Good With His Hands", co-written with Monty Python's Michael Palin in 1968!

I heard Michael speaking about this song many, many years ago on a Radio 2 show. I KNEW I'd heard it before! This was just one of a wonderful batch of open reel tapes we've just had the pleasure of baking, digitising and restoring for Barry's family. His career spans decades of work as orchestra leader and arranger, singer-songwriter and musical director for Roy Orbison among many others.

Many of these tapes are first generation masters from original BBC studio session recordings. Most are very rare, and sound INCREDIBLE! You can read more about his extraordinary career here. https://www.barryboothmusic.com/

Hello everyone. Rob at OrFactor Productions and I are thrilled to announce the launch today of Healthy 4 Longer, who we partnered with last autumn.

This is an important nationwide initiative to help all carers to encourage the people they care for to do simple, regular chair-based exercises, with an added focus on hydration and nutrition. The carers will use our videos to help them achieve this. We're so proud and excited to be part of this important project!

It's always nice to see our video work out in the public space. University of Worcester's have published their latest extensive research on dementia care. "Crossing the Line" is a groundbreaking curation of practical advice on the day-to-day challenges of and solutions for caring for someone living with dementia. It's incredible that this has never been done before, certainly this comprehensively.

We recently made two films based on this important project. The first is a wonderful talk from husband and carer Paul on his wife Jill's care. His tips on personal, everyday care and wellbeing are an inspiration. The second film is an overview of the project as a whole.

It's not often that Rob or I get to do a video project "just for fun", but this one was, er, just that! Taking down the very smallest and lightest kit I could lay my hands on, on a train to Dorking, and doing a quick four-hour job on the edit... I wish all jobs were as easy as this!

Huge fun with Dorking Museum, the 10cc chaps and a lovely big crowd for the unveiling of the Strawberry Studios South blue plaque. Brilliant stuff. 😁

What a joyous few hours working with the great team at Dorking Museum for the unveiling of the commemorative blue plaque at the site of 10cc's Strawberry South studio. Home to Dreadlock Holiday, Ebony and Ivory and many more!

A real thrill to spend time with all of the 10cc mk II chaps who could make it. Graham, Rick, Paul and Stuart were great company, and chuffed to bits with the size of the crowd that turned up on the street outside the old studio site, the record shop signing, and the meet-and-greet back at the museum. The day was topped off for my my good poddy chum Paul McNulty and me with a fun pint and a spot of Italian with Stuart (10cc and Pilot) Tosh and his lovely girlfriend Jenny. It was magic. Wo ho ho. 😁😉
