CANET Show

CANET Show Welcome to CANET! Hi!! Welcome to the CANET show page. Culture And North East Theatre (CANET) does exactly what it says on the tin.

It's a show dedicated to the arts straight from the North East presented by me, Becca, on Lionheart Radio 107.3fm or online at www.lionheartradio.com. I am not a theatre person and I don't know much about this world so please come on this journey with me as we find out all about culture and Theatre. Find out the answers that you have always wondered about theatre like "why can't you whistle in a t

heatre?" or "why is it unlucky to mention 'The Scottish Play' by name?". I will also be (hopefully) chatting to some talented people from this industry and learning about upcoming events, playing theatre inspired games and more. If you are involved with the arts world, are from or based in The North East and would like a chance to talk about your work then please feel free to get in touch with me [email protected]
CANET is a 2 hour monthly show on the first Tuesday of the month 3-5pm broadcast live from the Lionheart Radio studio in Alnwick, Northumberland.

Plans for the 2nd attempt at show 17 on Tuesday 2nd December (this time please hold the illness)
How is it the last show of the 2025 already?? It feels like I was just planning the last one of 2024 2 minutes ago!! I did what I said I was going to do and just borrowed/stole the plan from the November show I had planned but I was ill so didn't do it. It kind of made it a bit easier for me though as I didn't have to plan a show but I have added to it and moved a few things around so I didn't completely cheat my way out of it
This show will be a lot more like a time warp as I will be playing an interview from The Tute about their Rude Health festival which when I spoke to them was over halfway through. Now about a month later it is at the end.
It's also been a while since we had some random theatre and culture related facts and who doesn't love a fact that nobody needs to know?? It's also been a while since I did a person of culture and then of course since it is the last show of the year I will be going over briefly what has happened and some of the highlights for me! I think you can guess one of them! I will see you then! x

Plans for show 17 on Tuesday 4th November:
Its been a while since we had some random theatre and culture related facts and who doesn't love a fact that nobody needs to know?? It's also been a while since I did a person of culture. There will also be a bit of Time Travel on this show too as I will be speaking to The Tute about their Rude Health Festival before the show even happens!! (|roads? Where we're going we don't need roads!!) Yes, that had to be done!

I have been a Mcfly fan for over 2 decades now and the first band I remember falling in love with was Busted so when it was announced in early 2025 that Mcfly and Busted were going on tour together in September and October my heart pretty much exploded with excitement. That excitement was short lived when I realised how much tickets were. Having my own Radio show I came up with the most logical plan of action to me. To put on my own tribute show deadicated to both bands.I was originally doing this for me but I decided to do it for other people who for some reason also can't go to the tour.
I am beyond excited to bring you the Mcmega Special. Going through some well-known songs from both Mcfly and Busted and maybe 1 or 2 songs that aren't so well known. I will be also sharing some personal stories and sharing music from their various support bands from over the years and also songs that they have covered.
The first hour (3-4pm) will be the Mcfly tribute and the second hour (4-5pm) will be the Busted tribute. I hope you like it.
