When 70,000 people head to the Principality Stadium for a major event, getting them there and home again safely is a serious logistical challenge. That's exactly why Transport for Wales Trafnidiaeth Cymru appointed Pindar Creative to develop new and improved pre and post-event mapping to help keep things moving.

The maps we produced focus on giving passengers clear, confident guidance before they even leave home. Walking routes between the stadium gates and nearby rail stations are shown with timings, accessible routes are clearly marked, and crowd flow and queuing systems are laid out so visitors know exactly where to go and when. There's also a dedicated bus interchange map showing the nearest stops for routes serving the city on event days.

With Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Central both within walking distance of the Principality Stadium, rail is the backbone of event travel for tens of thousands of people. Our mapping supports that by making the journey legible from gate to platform, highlighting which platforms serve which destinations and when queues begin post-event, so passengers can plan confidently and services run more smoothly.

It's a great example of how well-designed wayfinding cartography can play a real role in sustainable travel planning, helping shift journeys away from cars and onto trains, buses, and on foot. Exactly the kind of work we love doing at Pindar Creative.

The UK Government has just published its Third Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy (CWIS3), setting out a bold vision for active travel over the next decade. The strategy includes a target for 55% of all short journeys in towns and cities to be walked or cycled by 2035, and aims for 60% of 5 to 16-year-olds to be regularly walking or cycling to school by the same date. 🚶🚴

Ambitions like these don't happen through infrastructure alone. People need to be able to understand their local network, navigate it confidently and trust that routes connect seamlessly beyond their immediate area. That's where clear, well-designed mapping and wayfinding make a real difference.

At Pindar Creative, supporting active travel goals is something we're genuinely proud to be part of. Whether it's designing wayfinding maps that help people explore a town on foot, or producing cycle maps that make it easier to choose two wheels over four, our work helps turn strategy into something people can actually use.

A recent example is the bespoke wayfinding map we created for Visit Otley's new totem scheme, helping residents and visitors navigate the town centre, discover local attractions and find walking routes with confidence. We've also worked with EPIKS on their Walk, Wheel, Ride project, producing a map designed to make sustainable local journeys more accessible and straightforward.

As local authorities and transport planners work towards the goals set out in CWIS3, we're here to help with the mapping and wayfinding that turns ambition into action. If you'd like to find out more about how we can support your active travel projects, we'd love to hear from you. 🗺️

We're proud to have been appointed by the ForwardMotion initiative to develop a brand new online interactive cycle map for Southend-on-Sea. 🗺️🚲

ForwardMotion is South Essex's active travel programme, funded by Active Travel England, with a mission to help residents swap car trips for cycling, walking, and public transport. From Bikeability training to community engagement and e-bike charging hubs, it's a genuinely ambitious effort to make sustainable travel the everyday norm.

Our role was to create an online interactive cycle map that makes route planning accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or confidence. The map lets users pan and zoom across Southend, toggle cycle route layers on and off, tap into hotspot information for key points of interest and cycle parking locations, and even switch on isochrones to see how far they can walk or cycle from any destination.

It's designed to support Southend's wider active travel strategy and Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan, helping connect residential areas with schools, workplaces and transport hubs, and giving people the confidence to get on their bikes.

You can explore the live map at https://southend.activemap.co.uk

If you're working on an active travel project and need interactive mapping that genuinely helps people get around, we'd love to hear from you. 👉 https://www.pindarcreative.co.uk/interactive-mapping.html

Great to be at Landor LINKS's Rural Bus Conference at Chester Racecourse today. It's always good to get in front of the people working to keep rural communities connected, and we've had some fantastic conversations already.

We're here showcasing our latest mapping and timetable solutions — work that helps operators, local authorities and passengers make sense of complex networks at a glance. If you're attending today and want to find out more about what we do, come and find us.

If you work with NHS England commissioning data, you'll know April 2026 brought some pretty significant changes. England went from 42 Integrated Care Boards down to 36, following the latest round of government-approved mergers, and a fair amount of the old map is now out of date.

We've just released the 2026 edition of our ICB map, and it reflects all of those changes. Every new boundary is in there, including the newly formed West and North London, Central East, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk, Surrey and Sussex, and Thames Valley boards.

Beyond just the updated boundaries, the map shows the seven NHS England regions in a clear colour-coded layout, with all 36 ICBs sitting within them. There's also a boxed breakdown of the clustering arrangements where ICBs are working together, which we think makes it a lot easier to understand how commissioning is actually organised on the ground. London gets its own inset too, because trying to fit the capital's ICBs into the main map at a readable size never really works.

We've also kept in the data that people tell us they find genuinely useful: unique ICB codes, the number of GP practices within each board, and population figures for every region and ICB.

It's available as an A0, A1 or A2 poster, as a dry-wipe version if you need something you can write on and update, and as a high-resolution PDF or JPEG if you need it for presentations, intranet pages or reports.

If you need a bulk order or something a bit bespoke, just give us a call or drop us a message and we'll sort it out.

Fresh off the press - the new Preston & South Ribble Cycle Map, commissioned by Lancashire County Council, has arrived, and we are proud to have designed and produced it. Our team handled the full cartographic design for this updated active travel map, which guides cyclists across safer, traffic-free paths and quieter streets right across Preston and South Ribble. The map highlights national cycle routes, on-road cycle lanes, off-road tracks, CYCLOPS junctions and cycle hubs, all drawn for clarity and easy navigation. It also features the iconic, newly rebuilt Tram Bridge over the River Ribble, restoring a vital link between the heart of Preston and the communities of South Ribble. From accurate route mapping to clean, legible design, this is the kind of detailed cartography we love to deliver.

If you would like to talk to us about map design and production for your own project, get in touch, we would love to help.

New wayfinding maps have been installed at Chelsea Quay, the latest section of the Tideway project to open along the Thames. The brief: help visitors navigate the newly developed riverside spaces, connect with the river, and read the changing tides. Delivered by the team at Oxford Cartographers, the heads-up mapping shows places of interest within a 5-minute walk, plus the nearest national rail station, ferry terminals and access points to the Thames Path. Every element has been designed to complement the tactile and visual character of the site, so the signage works as both a practical tool and part of the public realm. It's a strong example of what considered wayfinding can do for a complex urban space, guiding people clearly while supporting the wider transformation of the Chelsea Embankment.

We are proud to announce that Pindar Creative has successfully renewed not one, but three ISO certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 27001. The triple renewal is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to quality, environmental responsibility, and data security across everything we do.

ISO 9001 sits at the heart of how we work. From the first creative brief through to final delivery, our quality management processes ensure that every map, timetable, bus stop panel, and piece of travel publicity we produce meets the highest possible standards. Our clients - from transport authorities to national park bodies - rely on us to get things right, every time. This certification confirms that we have the processes and the people in place to do exactly that.

ISO 14001 reflects our dedication to operating responsibly. We work every day on sustainable travel solutions, active travel maps, and content that encourages people to make greener choices. It only makes sense that our own operations reflect those same values. Our environmental management system is certified, audited, and continually improved.

ISO 27001 gives our clients the confidence that their data is safe in our hands. In an era where data security cannot be taken for granted, this certification demonstrates that we take information security seriously - from the first file transfer to project completion.

Three certifications. One commitment: to be the most trusted partner in cartography and travel information publicity.

Thank you to our entire team for making this possible, and to our clients for the trust you place in us every day.
