Hello TisTalk listeners!
Although TisTalk is supposed to be on holiday, I couldn't resist producing a short special episode for you, this week .It's focused only on one thing in Tisbury: the current exhibition Forest Cathedral at Messums West art gallery.I interviewed the American artist, Andrew Amondson and Laura Downer, who lives locally in Teffont. Andrew explains the inspiration for his installation and then Laura responds to the exhibition, against the sound-track in the barn. She does this in a very meditative way, from the point of view of someone who organises 'forest bathing' sessions and pilgrimages, on a voluntary basis.
"For me, the Tithe Barn is a memory of a forest. The aim was to bring back the light and the memory, and to bring back the life of the forest" says Andrew Amondson,artist.
"It's clearly a very different experience from being in nature. But this is art. And art has its place for reminding people about the value and importance of nature" says Laura Downer, leader of 'forest bathing' sessions.
