Available now via GOOD DOCS our documentary about the inspiring artist Ann Sutton. The film about Ann, an internationally renowned weaver who changed course at 78 to become a fine artist shows how anything is possible for those driven by creative belief. Her wit, warmth and modernity are woven throughout this film.

We spend our lives making documentaries or supporting filmmakers to uncover truths. Yet, in our field, there is a startling lack of honesty regarding the very programs that purport to support filmmakers, especially women.

I love and value the documentary industry but when I discovered that for many women (and some men) it is a place of fear and abuse I decided to speak out on their behalf. It is time to have an agreed code of conduct to make sure documentary is safe for all. Thanks to the International Documentary Association for publishing this article and Documentary Association of Europe for helping to open up the discussion at IDFA this coming week.

A great success story for our smartphone training arm Pocket Stories. Former Women in Film and Television UK mentee Jillian Mannion took the smartphone film ball and ran with it - writing, directing, producing an incredibly impactful short drama that’s now at two film festivals 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎬🎬🎬

Very excited that Magpie - a short drama written by smartphone trainee and screen writer Jillian Mannion has been selected for Dublin Smartphone FilmFestival. Shot on Filmic Pro and edited on KineMaster on Jillian’s iPhone 13 mini (!) this is an incredible story filmed on location in Dundee. Photography by Daniel Mainland.

Really excited to be in such great company with wisdom and experience needed to make difficult decisions.
