England used to be a christian nation but I’m appalled by what I’m reading in the comment section. Absolute mockery of christianity, Jesus and those who were critically injured and one who lost their life.
I’m not naive about how far the UK has drifted — I just didn’t expect to see the drift measured this precisely, and in plain sight, in the comments section for everyone to see, within hours of a man dying.
In addition, What sat heaviest wasn’t the mockery from those with no faith. It was the ones who opened with “Christian man here” and then joined in. Guys, that man is supposed to be your brother in Christ. He was in the field because he loved the same Jesus you claim to love. There is nothing in us that should be able to laugh at that.
This has opened my eyes even more on the intercession and the need for us to stand in the gap for the UK! There is a lot we have to do as a nation but also we need to get out of our comfort zones and spread the love of God. People need to know and experience it.
Big Church Festival we are standing in support with you and those that have been affected by this tragedy.
So this is my prayer, and I’d ask you to make it yours:
For the family who are experiencing loss — I pray that God will be very near, in the way only He can be.
For the others recovering, and for everyone in that crowd who saw it.
For the organisers of Big Church Festival and the stewards carrying the weight of it.
And for England — that a nation which has forgotten its roots would be given a heart for Christ again.
Lord, have mercy on us.
