IT'S RED KITE RADIO'S 9TH BIRTHDAY ON THURSDAY 18TH JUNE!

Yes, it all started on a boiling hot Sunday morning on 18th June 2017 when director Mark Chapple opened the station at 11 am with U2/Beautiful Day.

Over the last 9 years it's been our privilege and pleasure to be your local community radio station, providing a service of music, news and community information for Thame, Haddenham, Chinnor, Princes Risborough and the Villages.

Grateful thanks to our founders who won the licence and raised the funds needed to get us on the air, also to presenters and volunteers past and present, advertisers and donors, the Hawkins family who run Haddenham Garden Centre which has been our home from the beginning and, of course, to you the Red Kite Radio listener for your feedback, support and interest over the years.

Our picture shows our studio and transmitter located in the Haddenham Garden Centre just prior to commissioning. You can see a short video of the launch on You Tube by following this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD_jzXXTdsE

🔎An unmissable exhibition for fans of Midsomer Murders, the popular ITV series, will open at Thame Museum on Friday 19th June for 10 weeks. Thame is one of the most filmed locations in the fictional Midsomer County and this exhibition will feature many of the 23 Thame venues used as filming locations in the series. Entry is free.

🔹️Visitors to the exhibition will learn about the history of Midsomer Murders and how it began in 1997; many of the 23 filming locations that can be found in Thame; the main actors who have appeared in 140 episodes to date; and some of the bizarre ways in which people have been murdered.

🔹️When you visit the museum shop at the end of the exhibition, you can choose from a range of Midsomer Murders MERCHANDISE, including t-shirts, tea towels, mugs, pens, and a book, A Midsomer Day Out, which guides you round all the filming locations in Thame and nearby villages.

🚶‍♀️If you want to make the most of your Midsomer adventure, why not take a guided walking tour with Midsomer Tours of Thame? The tours are held twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 pm, starting from the Town Hall.

☺️We are grateful for the generous support of Bentley Productions in putting on this exhibition.

🔹️The Building Stories Exhibition is now on! Discover more about buildings in our town. Did you know...🔎🔎

🔹️On the site of the unattractive, empty Co-op building, there was once a beautiful Mansion House, built by Sir Francis Knollys, treasurer to Elizabeth I.
🔹️The building housed Huguenot priests (1792-1802) who fled France during the Reign of Terror, and then Napoleonic prisoners of war.
In 1808 it was converted into a school with a large assembly hall, a gymnasium with a sprung floor, and a swimming pool.

🔸️Exhibition open Weds, Fri, Sat 10-4, Sun 1-4.
