OUT AND ABOUT - THE SIGHTS AND SOUNDS OF THAME

On most Saturdays in Thame you'll come across someone performing live music on Greyhound Walk. One of the regulars down there is Perera Warna.

On one recent Saturday two 13 year old girls from Aylesbury, Lily and Emily were shopping in the town. The girls love to sing, they asked Perera if they could sing with him and he agreed.

Dawn Elizabeth, one of the girl's mums, was able to capture the impromptu and unrehearsed gig. In our picture (supplied courtesy of Dawn Elizabeth) you can see the two girls in full voice in the tunnel on Greyhound Walk in Thame.

If you tune in to the Mid Morning Show on Friday at 12.15, you'll hear a few snippets of the girls singing some well know songs.

You can hear Red Kite Radio on smart speakers, online at redkiteradio.com and on 107.2 FM in Thame, Haddenham, Chinnor, Princes Risborough and the Villages. You can also listen again on our website, just look for the orange button in the top right corner.

Good Morning Everyone! Happy Tuesday! 🌤️⛅️

It’s a mostly cloudy start this morning with sunny spells here and there at times. As we head through the day we will keep a lot of the cloud cover but the sunshine may keep appearing at times. Staying pretty dry with temperatures reaching 16-17°. ☁️ ⛅️

This evening and tonight will be a mostly cloudy night to come, with lows of 10°.

Tomorrow will be a very grey start with a lot of thick cloud cover, few drizzle spells around the hills. The sun should appear from lunchtime onwards once the clouds start to break up. Highs of 17°-18°. ☁️ ⛅️🌤️

Thursday starts of beautiful, lots of sunshine but unfortunately the clouds will build up from 2-3pm. Temperatures reaching 16-17°.🌤️⛅️ ☁️

Friday, Saturday and Sunday both look very great, lots of thick cloud around and some potential drizzle spells. Highs of around 12-13° so it will feel a tad cooler. ☁️ ☁️

Have a wonderful day all!

This evening and tonight starts of partly cloudy but we will see some thicker cloud move in from midnight onwards. A few drizzle spells are likely at times. Lows of 10°.

Tomorrow we will see quite a lot of cloud cover but a few sunny intervals are possible here and there. Staying mostly dry but the odd light shows may crop up. Temperatures reaching 17°. ☁️ ⛅️ ☁️

Wednesday looks like an overcast morning but things will brighten up from mid day onwards. Highs of 16°.! ☁️ ⛅️

Thursday will basically be the opposite to Wednesday, sunny in the morning and turning cloudy in the afternoon. Temperatures reaching 15-16°.🌤️⛅️ ☁️

We are Red Kite Radio - real LOCAL radio

Based in the grounds of Haddenham Garden Centre, we've been on air since June 2017. A not-for-profit organisation, our remit is to serve the community with Classic Hits from the 60’s to today, News and Information. We are funded by Advertising and Sponsorship and Donations.

We started out as a team of friends from Haddenham and Thame who all had worked in commercial radio with an idea of creating a pop up radio station for 2 weeks per year to celebrate the Haddenham Beer Festival. So ‘Summerfest Radio’ was born. We did it 4 years in a row with a lot of support from the community to go for a full time community radio licence and widen our reach to focus on Thame, Haddenham and the surrounding villages. We have a number of local presenters. The team is a mix of young and old from all areas, with a vast repertoire of music knowledge and preferences. We’re always keen to build the team so anyone can come in and give it a go after completing our training. We train the presenters in the studio to operate the desk and control the playlist system. If you are interested in getting involved, please message us here or email [email protected]
