👋🏻 Hi there!

I'm Andreia and I'm the woman behind 'The Cats and The Swallow - Cake Design'. It's a little scary to show my face to the world (I usually stay behind the camera when it comes to publishing photos...) or even to talk about myself. But when you have your own small business, you need to find all that courage within you! So, I decided to share a few things about myself.

🌿 I'm Portuguese, born and raised in the most beautiful and brightest city in the world, Lisbon. I moved to London in 2015 and later to the countryside in 2020.

🌿 I was basically raised in a kitchen (the perks of having a family that are restaurant owners). I remember helping my grandmother beating buttercream for desserts and some cakes. By hand. I do not miss it.

🌿 I love to cook and make experiments, but my passion is cakes and desserts! My friends and family are my forever tasters (and I don’t think they mind… 🤭). I'm mostly self-taught, but recently I decided to do the courses by the wonderful and talented to improve my technique (and confidence!) and finally start my own business.

🌿 I have many passions and interests, with sustainability and seasonal living being one of them. That’s one of my core values for my business and hopefully will become a source of inspiration for others!

🌅 Sunset 🌅 When using a rusting effect technique to paint a cake, it is possible to achieve the colours that remind us of the end of those long and warm summer days.

This is a beautiful decoration in buttercream cakes that suits everyone, and can be very interesting if you are looking for a more adult feeling cake. Why not surprise that special person in your life with one of our cakes?

🌿 Our cakes are homemade from scratch, including all of those delicious fillings. Much love involved here!

We have organic and non-organic options, although all the dairy products used are organic. It wouldn't make sense otherwise from a sustainability point of view... They are also gluten-free adaptable, but we do recommend regular flour for vegan cakes for a better flavour experience!

Please note that we only work with buttercream!

All cakes include cake boards and prices start with a semi-naked decoration.

Extras can include a more intricate buttercream design or style or fresh flowers. Ask for options!

🌺 Vanilla & Rhubarb 🌺 Rhubarb is a seasonal staple in the English dessert menu. I confess I was skeptical first as I hadn't tried a dessert with this strong and tart vegetable that actually pleased me. But when cooked as a delicious curd it pairs really well with vanilla, resulting on a well rounded cake that can delight all crowds!

🍋 Lemon & Lavender sponge cake 🍋 The idea for this cake was to join two of my favorite ingredients: the slightly acidic and sour but extremely aromatic lemon, with the herbal and sweet flavour of lavender. The result is a refreshing and subtly floral, a mouthwatering cake that reminds those warm and sunny Spring days.
