The Long Table isn’t really an event, and I think that’s what I’ve been trying to put into words recently..
Because you can go to an event, you can eat good food, you can meet new people, you can have a lovely time, but what if you left feeling something more?
Seen, welcomed, held, connected, like your presence actually mattered.
That’s what we’re creating around these tables.
This summer has been a whirlwind of school holidays, play dates, magazine deadlines, dog walks, camping trips, coffee catch-ups and all the beautiful chaos that comes with life.
But I'm not ready for it to slow down.
I’d quite happily have one more little adventure, one more play date, one more coffee, one more long, lazy conversation, one more moment where life feels a little less rushed.
And perhaps that’s why these tables matter so much to me.
Because we don't need more places to go, we need more places where we can arrive, where nobody is wondering what they can get from you.
Nobody is performing or trying to impress. You simply take your seat, and someone has thought about the flowers, the food, the person sitting beside you, the little details, the atmosphere, and most importantly…
they've thought about YOU.
These four reviews are from just two of our Long Tables, and amongst all the lovely words, there are a few phrases I keep coming back to:
“The one held.”
“We left the evening in connection.”
“It gives energy & lifts the spirit.”
“A space where people can come together.”
That is the Long Table.
Not networking, not a room full of strangers, not another event to tick off the calendar. A table, a place to pause, a place to laugh until your face hurts.
To have the conversation you didn't know you needed, meet someone who might become a friend, feel part of something, even if you arrived knowing nobody, with connection at the heart of everything.
So maybe the question isn't:
“Do I need another event?”
Maybe it's:
"When was the last time I went somewhere and felt genuinely glad I was there?”
If you can't remember…
Your chair is waiting. ♡
