Replica Model of the Titanic's Bow Wreck

A detailed replica model of the bow section of the RMS Titanic wreck located on the seabed. This model shows the damaged deck structure, the collapsed roof of the captain's cabin, the fallen foremast, and details of the open hatch and the patterned floor of the Grand Staircase.

On April 16, 1912, the wreck of the Titanic officially became a new resident at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean at a depth of 3,750 meters after its tragic sinking the day before. All the luxury of the Edwardian era, the joy of passengers from various social classes, and the dramatic stories of their struggles for life were instantly vanished, leaving silence beneath the sea along with the loss of 1,496 lives. Now, the wreckage of the ship, scattered personal belongings, and even a porcelain doll stranded in the darkness are silent witnesses that the giant liner's transatlantic journey has ended forever here.

The Mystery and Decay of the Titanic Wreckage

A detailed digital mosaic from the 2022 Magellan expedition reveals that more than two-thirds of the Titanic has been shattered into fragments by the powerful impact on the seabed, with the stern severely damaged compared to the bow, which retains its shape. In the new National Geographic documentary, *Titanic: Virtual Resurrection*, a team of researchers led by Parkes Stevenson will analyze the "virtual twin" and new video footage to monitor the rate of decay of the wreckage, which is predicted to dissolve over the next few centuries, while also uncovering new mysteries behind the sinking of this legendary ship.

The Night of April 18, 1912: Carpathia Arrives in New York

On the dark and stormy night of April 18, the ship Carpathia arrived in New York carrying the survivors of the Titanic and thirteen lifeboats, greeted by tens of thousands of onlookers, security personnel, medical personnel, and a throng of aggressive journalists. The evacuation was dramatic; the elite passengers immediately returned home to avoid the press, the crew transferred to the Lapland to return to England, and Senator Smith met with Bruce Ismay to launch a formal investigation. Meanwhile, Guglielmo Marconi and journalists boarded the ship to get an exclusive story from radio operator Harold Bride, sparking controversy over the payment of thousands of dollars for the story before the crowd finally dispersed around midnight.

Exploring the Wreck of the Titanic

The wreck of the legendary RMS Titanic at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean, captured directly through the circular window of a deep-sea expedition submersible. The iconic foredeck, rusted railings covered in stalactite-like structures caused by iron-eating bacteria (rusticles), and the remains of the ship's mechanical components slowly eroded by time in the dark depths of the ocean.
