Road users are advised that vehicular access to Coleraine town centre pedestrian zone will be restricted on the morning of Saturday, between approximately 10.30am to 12.30pm, 19th September due to a funeral taking place.

A large crowd is anticipated and officers will be in attendance to control traffic and assist with access for deliveries where possible.

COUNCIL OVERLOOKS MY QUESTIONS ON RETURNING THE TRUCK, TRACTOR AND VINTAGE CAR CAVALCADE TO BALLYMONEY SPRING FAIR

Several weeks ago I submitted a clear and concise list of questions to senior Council officers regarding the Ballymoney Spring Fair and, importantly, the possibility of bringing back the truck, tractor and vintage car cavalcade.

This is an event I was instrumental in helping bring to Ballymoney in the first place, and I know just how popular it became with local people, vehicle enthusiasts and visitors to the town.

My intention was simple. I wanted the information in front of Members so that we could properly debate the issue, understand what the challenges are and explore whether those challenges can be overcome.

Unfortunately, due to an oversight, my questions were completely overlooked and the information was not brought to the Leisure and Development Committee.

I want to apologise to the many constituents, vehicle owners and groups who have contacted and lobbied me on this issue and who were expecting it to be properly discussed. I share your frustration and disappointment that we were unable to have that discussion as planned.

The truck, tractor and vintage car cavalcade was a hugely popular part of the Spring Fair and I believe it deserves to be properly considered again.

A full report is now to come back next month and I will continue pressing for clear answers and a proper discussion on what would be required to see the cavalcade return to Ballymoney.

I asked the questions weeks ago. I now expect the answers.

Exclusive : 🛍️ THE RANGE EYES NEW COLERAINE STORE

The Range is in the early stages of securing a site and preparing a planning application for a new store at Riverside Retail Park in Coleraine.

Explore Causeway Coast & Glens understands the proposal is for a new-build unit beside Currys.

While it remains early days and any development would be subject to the planning process, the plans could bring another major retailer to the town.

Councillor Tanya Elder said:

“This is very positive news for Coleraine. The Range would bring additional jobs, greater consumer choice and further investment to Riverside Retail Park.

“Subject to planning approval, this would be another welcome vote of confidence in Coleraine as a retail destination.”

Police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary, an attempted theft and a theft from a vehicle in Castlerock in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, 15th September.

Detective Sergeant McKernan said: “We received a report at around 7.50am that a number of tools had been stolen from a shed at an address in the Altikeeragh Road area. We believe these may have been taken sometime around 2am this morning.

“A further report was received just before 9am of an attempted theft from another shed in the Ballymadigan Terrace area, where a number of fence panels had been removed and the door forced open. At this time, it’s unclear whether anything has been taken.

“We received another report at around 1.10pm this afternoon that a number of tools had been stolen from a van in the Ballymadigan Terrace area, reportedly overnight.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious on Monday night or in the early hours of this morning, particularly between the hours of 1am-2am, to contact police using our witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals, quoting reference 221 of 15/09/26, or to call us on 101.

“We would also appeal to anyone who might have any information – including dash-cam, ring-doorbell or other footage – to get in touch as well.
