Jeffrey Donaldson Sentencing Delayed Until October

Former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson, who was previously found guilty by a jury on 18 counts of historical sexual offences against two victims, had been due to be sentenced today at Newry Crown Court.

However, following submissions from prosecution barrister Rosemary Walsh KC and defence barrister Kieran Vaughan KC, Judge Paul Ramsey remanded Donaldson back to custody, with sentencing now expected to take place in October.

Police in Limavady are appealing for information and witnesses following a suspected arson attack in Garvagh in the early hours of Thursday 24th September.

Shortly before 4.20am, police received a report that a number of cars were on fire outside a house in the Gelvin Road area.

Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, who extinguished the fires.

There were no reports of any injuries, although extensive damage was caused to seven vehicles. This was a reckless act which is being treating as deliberate ignition and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances.
