The standard Cartel promotional poster for Girlfriend in a Coma was the green design, which matches the UK 12” pressing. The larger 60” × 40” Subway/Capital posters used the grey artwork from the 7” sleeve. However, the grey Cartel poster in the 24” × 12” format is rarely seen—it’s one of the rarer and more unusual pieces from the Cartel series.

A lovely poster of my friends framed in its temporary home (I may just never return it 😂).

📅 The Smiths — Margate Winter Gardens, 8th March, 1985
Part of the band’s legendary “Meat Is Murder” UK tour 🇬🇧

A packed seaside crowd saw Morrissey, Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke, and Mike Joyce bring their jangly brilliance to the Kent coast. Morrissey waved gladioli, Johnny’s riffs shimmered, and fans swooned as “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” and “How Soon Is Now?” filled the hall.

Identifying Irish Pressings ☘️
Here are some quick tips to help you identify Irish 12” & LPs by sight alone. Super handy when you’re digging on eBay and even the seller doesn’t realise what they’ve got — perfect for spotting a bargain 👀💚

Key things to look for:
1️⃣ Inverted middle/spindle area (UK pressings are raised)
2️⃣ “Double-dipped” style CBS labels
3️⃣ Brown translucent vinyl when held to the light 💡

The Forever Argument: Green Tinted Sleeve… or Just Sunfade? 🌞💿

Here’s a great example from the old HMV Manchester window display. When Strangeways came out, they made a huge collage dial display — and as you can see in the photos, the parts of the titles that were covered stayed their original grey, while the areas hit directly by sunlight turned that greenish tint everyone argues about.

Swipe to slides 2/3 and you’ll see an experiment showing exactly the same thing: the original grey transforms into bright green after strong sun exposure. ☀️➡️💚

So the whole point of this post is just to say: don’t be fooled by sellers trying to flog these for silly money. It’s not a rare variant — it’s just a standard copy that’s had a bit too much sunbathing. 👍🏼😎

(Not to be confused 2009 reissue which rear sleeve has a barcode and the 7” labels differ to the original pressing.)

Condition - Sleeve is very clean, these thin sleeves normally get a lot of ringwear and generalwear due to the thinness, light ringwear on rear but still VG+, labels clean 🧼, a few light hairlines either side but still VG+
