We are bringing John and Yoko to Chagford on Friday night!

BlackbeamCinematic will be bringing the excellent (and highly praised) One to One: John and Yoko documentary to the Jubilee Hall as part of the Chagford Film Festival programme.

Providing new insights into John and Yoko's early 1970s New York years, against a backdrop of political turbulence, idealistic causes and uncertain times (sound familiar?!).

We're back at the Chagford Film Festival next week (September 22nd - 27th).

We have been involved with the Film Festival for the past five years and the Blackbeam team is super excited to be back again in 2025 to transform the village's Jubilee Hall and St. Michael's church into fantabulous cinema venues.

We will be transforming these spaces with cinema quality Panasonic Projector & Display Global visuals, crisp NEXO sound and of course appropriate BlackbeamCinematic mood lighting!

Described as 'one of the quirkiest film festivals in the UK', Chagford Film Festival has been going since 2011. Always great fun and set against the amazing backdrop of Dartmoor.

Our recommendation: Hike on the moor + grub at The Globe Inn, Chagford + a movie = happy days!

gives an insight into what its like working on an artistic installation using sound, light and immersive projections to transform a space for a pop-up performance.

In Autumn last year, as part of We Shine Portsmouth, BlackbeamCinematic collaborated on a project with One000plateaus. As part of the event, it was really rewarding to work with tech students from University, Southampton to make this live event happen.

Very enjoyable weekend out in North Devon working with delivering our classic big screen outdoor cinema at the fantastic Welcome Week[ender] event. The high winds on Saturday threatened cancellation, but we're used to improvising and having bombed projections onto the Landmark towers in the past , there was no drama turning our powerful 20,000 lumen projector onto the Landmark tower. Wow! A tale of two great events for the Blackbeam techs over the weekend!

One team was providing the lights, sound and stage for the extravagant (and very pink!) Every Last Detail Launch Party where Barnstaple pannier market was transformed into a pink palace for the night!

The other BlackbeamCinematic team was in Croyde, providing the outdoor cinema experience for a double bill of Save the Waves Film Festival and Surf + Conservation Festival. Superb venue overlooking the beach, great food, great talks, great films!

Thanks to everyone we worked with over the weekend, including Every Last Detail, Barnstaple Pannier Market, North Devon World Surfing Reserve, Earth Action North Devon North Devon Coast National Landscape, Freshwell Camping.

The outdoor cinema screen is ready to roll out for the Surf + Conservation festival in Croyde on August 15th and 16th.

Overlooking the sea from the amazing Freshwell camping site we will be showing two nights of film.

Friday night: The North Devon stop on the Save The Waves Film Festival world tour. An evening of superb surf/ocean based short films supporting conservation efforts to protect surf ecosystems across the globe. Screen time approximately 8.30pm, dependent on sunset lighting), £5 tickets.

Saturday night: Edinburgh Conservation Film Festival shorts celebrating conservation (including Safeguarding Our Seas: lessons From Lundy by North Devon Moving Image). Screen time approximately 8.30pm, dependent on sunset lighting), £5 tickets.

Excited to share some images from Caerphilly Castle, near Cardiff, which reopened its doors to the public in July! BlackbeamCinematic has been involved in the ambitious project to refurbish sections of Wales' biggest castle.

We have been installing projection, audio and lighting systems to help tell Caerphilly's stories and bring the characters of its past to life for a modern visitor audience.

Working with creators from the brilliant Creative Studios, the story of the castle is narrated using projections which use the surfaces of the building and custom built installations.

The centrepiece is the Great Hall, dating back to the 14th century, with the story of the castle unfolding around the walls and focusing on a projection surface emulating a medieval tapestry.

It's been a pleasure to work on this project, led by CADW.
