As much as I personally love the heat and excitement of summer, there’s a lot to be said for the calmness of autumn/fall, when the natural world starts to slow down and prepare for the dormant winter season.
We’ve been in this house for around 9 months now, and when I look around it feels like home for sure. There are pros and cons to that: comfort comes at the risk of neglecting or becoming apathetic about certain things and that’s what I’m really desperately trying to avoid.
Sometimes it’s just a case of making ANY progress as opposed to trying to get straight to the perfect version. The garden feels like that for me, I have a picture in my head of the end result but it feels like quite a long way off, for various reasons. So I’m trying to enjoy it how it is and just keep gradually moving things forward.
As the weather changes, the focus shifts to indoors for the most part, with plenty of jobs to be done there too. I also want to make sure I’m balancing “productivity” with rest and enjoyment of day to day life.
