We’re starting to think about decorating after 9 months in the new house - very exciting!

Won’t be starting just yet but trying to be vaguely organised with it for once 😅

Follow for more rooms and more progress!

Clearly should have kept my mouth shut 😅 to be fair it is basically a 20 min job if you exclude waiting for stuff to dry!

I broke the legs on my spinning composter… so I made new ones!

How many times can one man say the word “bulb” in one 30 second video 😂😭

As much as I personally love the heat and excitement of summer, there’s a lot to be said for the calmness of autumn/fall, when the natural world starts to slow down and prepare for the dormant winter season.

We’ve been in this house for around 9 months now, and when I look around it feels like home for sure. There are pros and cons to that: comfort comes at the risk of neglecting or becoming apathetic about certain things and that’s what I’m really desperately trying to avoid.

Sometimes it’s just a case of making ANY progress as opposed to trying to get straight to the perfect version. The garden feels like that for me, I have a picture in my head of the end result but it feels like quite a long way off, for various reasons. So I’m trying to enjoy it how it is and just keep gradually moving things forward.

As the weather changes, the focus shifts to indoors for the most part, with plenty of jobs to be done there too. I also want to make sure I’m balancing “productivity” with rest and enjoyment of day to day life.

It’s been a fun day in the sun today and we’ve enjoyed treats (sundaes for the kids, red wine for the adults!) and got a new bistro set reduced from the garden centre! When we finally do the garden we’ll find a forever home for it but it’s great on the patio for now.

The animals have loved chilling in the sun too and it’s so great to see the cat finally relaxing after several months where she was too scared to go outside when we first moved.

That last golden hour picture of my favourite tree just really reminds me that all the pre-move stress was worth it!

What have you been up to today?
