We've all had the experience of going to a conference or seminar only for it not live up to expectations. Virtual events are no different in this regard, but you can do some things beforehand that will make your virtual event much less painful and more successful!

The amount of time you can waste in trouble shooting cameras and other kit on set, when you haven’t got a little monitor to check if there’s signal coming through, is ridiculous. If you spend a lot of time plugging in cameras or checking white balances and such, get yourself an SDI monitor… it’ll save you time and a headache. Furthermore, some of these monitors can do cross conversion and can serve as loop through monitors for your production.

At a recent event, we used an ATOMOS Flame to give the director a view of what was on the in-vision TV at all times. Now we can't simply live without it!

We all have been to those conferences where the speaker talks for an hour and you’re still not sure what they were talking about. The content is so boring, that it's hard to stay awake! Luckily there are ways of making your conference presentations more interesting such as creating animations that will keep people engaged instead of looking at their watches and wondering when this torture session will end.

This is an old saying, and very well-known… but one of the most common issues we see with presentation slides is overcrowding. The more information you cram into one slide, the more difficult it becomes for the audience to get anything useful from it.

Try to ask yourself these questions:
-Can you spread the information over more than one slide?
-Can different elements on the slide appear in turn as you discuss the salient points?
-Could references and other supplementary information appear elsewhere in your deck?

Sometimes...less is more!
