My favourite part of pumpkin carving!

Yes it's time consuming and messy, and I'll probably be the only one eating it all.

But it's yummy and less wasteful too!

Pumpkin muffins and roasted seeds ☺️

If you have known me for any length of time, then you'll know how much the environment, sustainability and the future of the planet mean to me.

It dictates my choices in most things that I do, but I don't mind, it's for my children and the future that they need.

It can be exhausting though and hard to find the right information to help you make choices.

Where do you look for your needed information?

Can you make changes to move the date?

Earth overshoot day is something to remember, but certainly not to celebrate.

As I've mentioned lately one of my big things to change is food.

When I did my overshoot measurement non local food and petrol use were my biggest things.

I live in a very rural area and am not great at ditching the car 🙈 certainly something I must try harder with.

And accessing food from local sources needs to be my other main focus.

I'll be working on both this year.

What about you? What do you think you can change? I wonder if we can manage to move the date with a combined effort?

We had a fab time at Latitude festival Sunday, it's 10 minutes from us so perfect for a visit.

I also found their carbon foodprint poster really interesting.

Food is a massive factor in carbon emissions and it is truly my focus for where I need to make changes at home.

Waste being the first thing as that's just wasted carbon output and getting things locally is my next challenge.

If you need any help with your food changes give me a shout!

I think I've fallen into the eco anxiety trap!

I know I've been quiet on here and lacking direction, I apologise, it's because I feel a little lost.

It's plastic free July so I should have been giving you all tips, but with the weather craziness around the world it has become even more apparent to me, that we little people can't do enough to make the big change!

That's what eco anxiety is... Worrying that you can't do enough.

And I've let it stop me in my tracks!

Of course we can't change it all, but we should still do what we can.

So I'm asking you - what would be helpful?

The product side is on a back burner for now, but what can I help you with? What advice do you need? What are you doing for change?

Food waste is a real problem.

I was listening to the launch podcast this week, and in it Katherine reminded me that lowering food waste is key to lowering our carbon footprint.

Food has its own carbon footprint created during its production, packaging and transportation. If we waste this food we are causing an even greater problem.

Food waste is something I'm constantly concerned about, I have two young children who do waste food, we are getting better at eating this as leftover lunches and adjusting our cooking portions.

Meal planning and purchasing just what we need, has also made a big difference in our household.

If we all lower our consumption and purchasing, making sure that we don't waste what we have, then this will have a huge impact on on the planet.

Of course using .app and .uk can help too!

Thank goodness nothing is permenant in sewing 🙈

Feel like at times I go more backwards than forwards, but as in life we learn from our mistakes and move on!

How do you get past your little hiccups?

Today we are painting rocks!

My two both love collecting and bringing home rocks and stones. Tills asked to paint some...why not!

And the cloth has been used for painting for 12 years, the apron is older than that.

The painting might not be the most eco friendly I guess, but the pallet is an unused holder for weaning food pots 🤣

Low waste often means what can we reuse and a house full of stuff that might come one handy!

It's a plant filled week, this time the edible ones.

Thanks to my wonderful parents, the veggie patch is doing well.

Beans and runners are in and the strawberries are coming.

The tomatoes to look strong and the cucumbers are just planted in.

I find this all so exciting, and such a learning experience for the children.

It takes a lot of time and planning though and not sure I could do it without the help from my fabulous parents!

Such a great way to lower the carbon footprint and cut down on the plastic.

The milk bottles are in constant use here at the moment.

My darling toddler daughter does love to pick the wild flowers just like her brother did.

I love my windowsill full of buttercups, daisies, forget me nots, bluebells and what ever other flowers might have 'fallen over' today.

So much more wonderful than the ones bought from the shops.

I'm not so keen on the dandelions though 🤣

A riot of colour and life...

That's what I see when I look in my wonderful garden.

I know I probably talk about it too much, but I feel so lucky and am so appreciative of my little haven.

I just love the variety of colour and life and it pushes me forward on my eco journey every day.

I saw this amazing graphic yesterday, so even though it's late, I wanted to share it with you all.

Isn't it terrifying that the UK has already used up its years worth of Earth's resources.

I know I share with you each year the Earth's overshoot day, but seeing it by country is crazy.

The UK is not so bad compared to other western countries, but can we really take using up the resources by May as a win? I don't think so!

Our governments, businesses and leaders really need to be taking this on board, but we all have individual work to do too.

Meal planning has had a huge impact on food waste in our home.

What could you do to preserve more of earth's resources?

Who says cleaning cloths have to be pretty?

Mine certainly aren't, in fact this one (that used to be a side table, table cloth) is probably nearing the end of its days.

But of course, they can be pretty like my gorgeous, and popular, bee print ones!

How do you clean yours?

More flowers ... This time from the garden; beautiful tree peony.

I love the vibrant pink and absolute show this one puts on, it's a bush really, but so covered in these gorgeous blooms.

The pink and purple is starting to take over from the yellows in the garden now, although we've had a couple of rainy days, the sun has mostly been out, and the garden is really blossoming!
